Probably have to brace ourselves for it too because he'll want it to hurt.

Honestly find it sad that Bolton fans seem to have accepted this man's injustices. I feel that other clubs would have been much quicker to stage demonstrations outsides his restaurants etc.

The problem with joining and changing it, is that it is impossible to achieve.

The first issue is that they have to hold annual elections (that is part of their core constitution).  They held an initial one, didn't bother with the following years one, held one last year and are delayed in holding one this year (if at all) with it now being over 12 months to the day since the last one.

The second issue you face is that you have to be voted in - seeing they've never actually ever had an election determined by a vote (and it continues to look as though that will continue through the complete lack of apathy people have of the current Board), then you can't be democratically elected as such.

The final issue you face is that the ST Board are not all up for election, half of them always retain their seat on the Board serving for two year periods.  That means if there are no elections it will be up to the remaining Board members to co-opt people to the Board and who do you think they would choose, you or their three mates who are re-standing?

Even if the unlikely happens, and you are co-opted you would be one voice against six others on the Board for at least a year and the following years AGM (if they bothered to hold one!) would more than likely return at least one of their mates who had to re-stand, and thus give them the majority on the Board again for your full two years of office.

They've got it all stitched up.

No one is going to waste their time to try to change them from the inside - its an impossibility.

And how relevant do you think they are going to be for the next few years when FV eventually becomes the clubs owner after the ST's outburst at Michael James, who will of course be a part owner of the club!

The individuals who have started the ST and continue to run it to this day have done so with their own agendas in mind and not as a public representative body as it is set up to be.

I've said as much from the very early days and several on here (including yourself) have blasted me for it but I think it's becoming clearer to all (probably Mounts excluded) that the way they have conducted themselves have had little to no benefit in representing the fans and supporters to the club as they purported to do.

The ST is simply not fit for purpose under the current board - surely that is blatantly obvious to all by now?

I was recently speaking to a board member from Nottingham Forest and he claims that at one point the club increased its season ticket number by almost 5,000 through the support of supporters clubs. I feel like there need to be additional supporters groups that challenge the Supporter's Trust into either being something or pissing off.

  4. I honestly think it's a real shame that a legitimate supporter's trust doesn't exist. I remember being excited about it when it first came out, but it seems be nothing but a disappointment.

I get the feeling that guy is pulling a few legs. He's never mentioned being a lorry driver before, then suddenly he's delivering 26 pallets of merchandise to the club shop?

 very well could be a wind up. But I found it interesting that he said that on Twitter early in the morning (when you'd pick up a load) and didn't reply to messages until the afternoon. Maybe he was actually driving around! But honestly who knows

It turned up, but it was turned back. 26 pallets of kit sat in a warehouse in Bury waiting for us to come out of admin.

The guy who claimed he delivered it said it wasn't turned back.

To be honest our football was loads better when we didn’t have the top league ‘being the best’ I’d miss a few players but I’d be happy to let them all go to China if they wanted.

Used to be really against the salary cap but if they don’t then the FL will collapse

I agree that you don't need to be the best and that the experience can still be just as good, but with a multi-tier system a salary cap might be too hard.

You would have to have different caps for different tiers of the league. If a team is relegated, it may suddenly have a salary cap that's not eligible, which means that you wouldn't be able to sign players to multi-year contracts effectively.

On the other hand, if you just had a salary cap for all teams at every level, lower level clubs would still outspend their means.

Not just the nfl, all the professional sports leagues (apart from the mls) over there are either the only one or the very pinnacle of the sport so there is no fear of players fucking off to other places.

Football is a global sport so if the fa/epl bring in salary caps then the players will go play in spain/Italy etc. If UEFA do it then even more players will be off east for mega bucks or to the Americas.

It would have to be global ruling and I can't see that happening.

Exactly. Salary cap will never work if you intention is to be a dominant force in the sport -- otherwise China would be able to quickly replicate a top league by offering more money. USA sports benefit from being the only top-paying option in each major sport (NFL, NBA, MLB).

It seems like an impossible problem in many ways:

    1. You can't impose a salary cap if you want to remain the top league (or one of the top leagues).

    2. FFP is easy to get around for many clubs, and doesn't seem fit for purpose. But my main gripe is that is further separates bigger and smaller clubs by preventing well-intentioned investment. The clubs that have largest revenue streams at the point of FFP's inception automatically benefit from spending abilities that allow them to move beyond other clubs.

    3. On the other hand, without FFP you have owners who load clubs up with debt in an effort to push forward. If things don't work out, or the owner isn't as rich as he appears, then issues like ours are created.

    4. Many people then want to blame the EFL for poor management of the situation. And while Shaun Harvey is as useless as they come, the EFL is right to assert that in many cases alternative owners are not possible. If no one else wanted to buy us when Holdsworth took over, he was our only option and the EFL had to accept that. The problem is that there aren't enough people willing to throw fortunes away on lower level clubs. The cost of players and salaries is simply too high now to be enjoyable for many multi-millionaires that may have previously considered it.

Unfortunately, it appears football is a victim of its own success. Its global presence means that England can't dictate it's own rules. It has to deal with a global market if it wants to remain the center of the game.

If we do go pop.one thing i wont miss is miserable gits like you. Stick to bolton news comments page. Middle of nowhere - fuck off . Always doing us down. We are not a big club for an unfashionable town team and our attendances compare with counter parts like Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Barnsley, Uddersfield, etc. Bournemouth? Get stuffed

The funny thing is I'm not a miserable git, I'm probably one of the most optimistic people on here. I'm just explaining the reality of why some people may not find it an attractive investment opportunity (especially when they have no emotive attraction to the club).

I'm not saying it can't be turned around, in fact I don't think it would take much to restore the positive attitude around the club. But an outsider looking in might not think so in its current state.

Hopefully FV can complete the deal, restore some faith in the club, move us slightly forward, and sell us to someone who now sees a reason to invest more cash.

You’d think there’d be at least one rich cunt out there that wants to buy a football club. Even if it means overpaying for a league one club that’s on -12 points.

How’d we get left with such a shortage of options? One party paying 25k to see the books, ONE!

Too much debt, crap fan turnout (even in Prem), stadium in the middle of nowhere, high chance we end up in League 2, money hole for what may never be a prem club again. Even if we did make it back to prem, we'd probably have lowest crowds outside Bournemouth (and that's only due to the size of their stadium.

We'd be doing exactly the same given the opportunity, don't worry about that

Yeah and I would be against it. The amount of money and time invested in players shouldn't be discounted in times of hardship. The EFL shouldn't be open to this.

The suggestion from FV appears to be that the players who served notice and walked were able to gain lucrative signing on fees that should be considered as compensatory. It’s those that were out of contract any way that are the sticking point I think.

And I can see why they're trying to make that point.

I understand why players walked, as no one else would continue to work for free for such a long period of time. But I think some of the real culprits in the last couple months are other clubs. While it's not their fault that we're folding, they're certainly quick to tap players off and act as vultures while it's critical that we retain any value that we can. I have no sympathy from the likes of Celtic and other bigger names that tap players for free deals (or next to free) when a club is on the verge of insolvency.

  13. Look -- the club is on a fine wire. I know owe love BWFC, but it doesn't mean that it's an attractive opportunity for a rich buyer. FV have come in and are trying to drive a hard bargain because it will be a small margin that makes this doable. They've accepted that they won't be in the Championship for two seasons, and may even end up in League 2. It's critical to ensure that they can derive as much value from the deal as possible.

    Mysteriously missing eh?

I suspect KA did pay himself something in 2017/18 as a reward for selling Madine for a small fortune, persuading Blumarble to accept £1m less and the club getting another year's Championship income but that 's not the reason the accounts are missing. Big problem over 'going concern' issues and auditors being unpaid are two rather more significant matters.

Could it be that Mr Maguire is another 'pot stirrer' in the Iles, Conn mould?

If he's earning interest on secured debt and failing to pay a single unsecured creditor (even families hosting scholars), he doesn't deserve a hefty salary. That's the reality. If it comes out that he's taken a huge salary while screwing over everyone else, then it's further proof he's a total piece of sh. End of.

I might not be back from holiday for the Coventry game but hopefully I'll have paid for my season ticket before it and if we've not got to that point I will have bought a single ticket if they are available.

I don't really buy into this idea of kids wanting to go to the Etihad rather than watching us, you take them early enough and regularly and they learn over time that by and large you take the experience as a whole and the result is meaningless but the belonging is the thing.

If a kid is only watching MOTD and they're not sharing summat with u then of course the odds are they'll go for glamour, we're the parents and it's down to us to make them fans surely?

My eldest daughter has been to the wanderers a handful of times and has talked about going to watch a few women's games but when ive mentioned BWFC ladies she's said they are wank and so i've not taken her to any ladies games.

Lost my point somewhere along the line cos of Sunday arvo cider, but basically we have to buy tickets if we can because otherwise we might end up decorating at weekends.

I'm on the young-ish side of things and in all honesty if a kid would rather support Manchester City, they can piss off and do so. Can't stand glory hunters and don't have any desire to have people with that mindset supporting the same club as me.

  18. As a club, if we don't own our own stadium, what's the point? We're just a brand and nothing more. It's just as West Ham have become a shadow of their former selves after leaving their ground and renting the Olympic Park?

I would honestly follow this club to the 10th tier without hesitating to buy a season ticket. Don't care who the manager is or what the transfer budget is, but I'm not going to support a brand (franchise effectively) that squats in a rented stadium that's leased out to other sporting events over us etc. We'll end up with a ground sharing agreement to maximize revenue. Think this could be me done.

  19. Obviously this information could be rubbish, but I thought it was worth sharing anyways.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but a West Ham friend of mine who seems to know a lot circulating about the club claims the Bassini/David Sullivan rumors are true. He claims that Sullivan is giving money to Bassini to buy all the associated property and assets (except for the club itself). The stadium and property will then be lent back to the club, but owned by Sullivan.

did I dream this or wasn't he meant to have his EFL leaving do at KA's son's restaurant?

There was a newspaper article saying the leaving do was at one of Ken's restaurants, but the restaurant mentioned was actually not owned by Ken or his family. Not sure if it as a mistake or if the story had been made up.

  21. BWFC Food Bank posted on Twitter that we should report Ken Anderson to the insolvency regulators to prevent him from becoming involved in the hotel via administration. Does anyone know anything more about this?
