Really? Like Oxford will win or Peterborough will?

I didn't say that though did I ?... I said Posh will run away with it or Oxford will nick it which is slightly different. Keep up.

  2. I said I would comment win, lose or draw and I will. My game isn't to gloat either and its a one off post. The way we play at home was exactly on show last night ...it fucking infuriates most of us but we sit back , allow the opposition uncontested ball and say what you got ? Well the answer will not be popular with you but it's very little. Your play is excellent and very tidy to watch but it is hurting nobody and honestly I thought we had better chances in a 5 minute spell than you had all night. Ridiculous decision to take that lad off who looked excellent.

Can you go up ?...ofcourse you can but you need to sharpen up and go for the throat with a bit of urgency and you'll be reet, but fanny around with all the possession and it only takes 1 mistake and, well you know. We have nothing to play for and could be stuck in this piss poor league for years so may not play you again for years but when we meet again I'll have a catch up in the run up to it ( that's if I'm still drawing breath ).

    Good luck and bon voyage.

Interesting @Rubberkex hasn’t shown his head above the parapet yet.

Head now above parapet.  Was just waiting to get your collapse at Blackpool out the way first before I posted, as I said I would in the run up to the match.

On the match, fuck me not a clue. We are up and down like a yo-yo great one minute and crap the next. Mostly our possession is high but it seems to consist of piss farting about with it across the back four and isn't pleasing on the eye. You lot, consistent mostly but nerves might play a part as we approach the business end of the season where no fuckin point is easy won. I really do think it can go either way and I know that sounds like a cop out but it could come down to one mistake. You will probably go up ( just ) but honestly believe we will edge this ( also just ) but wouldn't be surprised by any result. Pitch is ok.

So to sum up, get your collective nerves jangling and I hope that transfers to your players on the night but and more importantly I hope everyone returns home safely with no mishaps etc because at the end of the day its blokes kicking a bag of fucking wind about and nobody outside South Lancashire gives a shit about either of us.

Whatever happens I will share my thoughts on  proceedings after the event ...win, lose or draw.

I agree Rubber everybody does look beatable at the moment so anybody that keeps winning is in the pound seats. I do think your squad depth is your question mark because over a season you’ll need squad players at some point. I think we have to wait a couple of months yet to get any real indication of real challengers because one or two of those at the top will probably slip back. I think L1 is much more even this season than last so I don’t expect the points needed for automatics will be as high as last year. Still very early days yet so after your start I think you’ve a fair chance of making your 6th spot.

Can't argue with any of that...something else springs in my mind too. Very important week for both our managers...on one hand you have Evatt who has to instill in his players that Saturday has gone and one bad result doesn't make them a bad team. On the other hand Maloney has to instill in his players that Saturday has gone and one good result doesn't make them unbeatable.  Like last week only 3 points up for grabs but its how both sides react will define our immediate futures.

They’ll not be top 2, no depth whatsoever…. Last Saturday was their zenith, team that’s set up for that type of away day and much poorer at home than away.

Those amongst us who have been watching years know top 2 is stretching it. Survival was our initial aim but after seeing our games upto now even older sceptical fans like me are starting to think a lower end play off berth could be doable...ofcourse you're right regarding squad depth , I have these concerns when I look at the bench. Its a strange league upto now though where every bugger looks beatable...take Posh for example ripping it up then lose at Northampton ( who weren't half bad at our place to be honest ) and Barnsley have caved in . Oxford look decent, Derby spluttering but will come good eventually.  Still think you lot will finish top 2 and I'd take 6th now for us.

Anybody driving to Burton careful you don't turn south on the M6 at Stoke as I did 2 years ago...adds 27 miles onto journey going down to Stafford and doubling back.

I'd back our midfield too although Wigan have some decent young talent there - but they are strong and physical at the back which is why I think the first goal is important. Maybe Rubberkex can provide us with a SWOT analysis of his team?

Now I've looked SWOT up I'll give it a go...

Young Goalie Tickle...Good lad but seems a bit iffy on crosses.

Back 4 good ball players all...Clare on right comfortable and will try to get forward as will Pearce who will whip crosses in at every opportunity ( just hope he gets some )

2 lads at back Hughes and Morrison have big futures in front of them.

Midfield...I expect Smith ( who is a sublime talent ) and Adeeko ( who is also very good but prone to a loss of concentration  )to start in the middle with Callam Mac on the left ( past his best unfortunately  ) and big Humphrys on the right who will do a couple of step overs to get on his left peg and whip a shot in. He won't pass so expect said shots.

Lang will play behind Wyke and is tricky but flatters to deceive at times. Big Charlie will lead the line and will do it well but needs help of Lang .

Reet, that's my last post on here until post match when I will make 1 more. I won't hide if beaten and won't crow if we win...I will tell it like I see it no matter what happens.

Perspective is everything and football isn’t the be all and end all, I agree

but in a way it’s good to have “hatred” of another team. Saturday certainly gets my heart going more than the last few fixtures.

In a sort of paradoxical way, I’m quite glad we have Wigan as a team that I can love to hate.

It will be shit  if we lose the bragging rights, but I just wont look at social media much if that happens whereas others will spend hours arguing with opposition fans and winding themselves up in the process. Each to their own.

But if we win, it will feel so much better than any other win.

Funny how perspective goes hand in hand with expectation. Almost diametrically opposed. When I was growing up we had literally fuck all with little expectation but everything in perspective concentrating on things that matter. As expectation rising perspective goes out the window .

    Is that progress ?

  8. Why this need to hate anybody ?... support your club yes, spend ridiculous amounts following a dream yes, kick the fucking dog when you lose yes, but why does hate come into anything that just doesn't matter...

I reserve my hatred for things that deserve it ...everytime I drive near Derian House my blood runs cold with the sadness that fills that place and that disease that makes it necessary...now I hate that bastard with a passion and it cares little for what colour football shirt you buy.

I think we can all agree that this time it’s us that’s in form and top of the league and the pies looking up and fearing a rinsing. Our only concern is that our players don’t turn up on the day but I believe they will and we’ll give these tin pots a good smashing and put them back in their box.

Unfortunately my friend us tin pots keep climbing back out of the box...on this match I'm kind of being pragmatic. I've been upto your place and seen us win a few and lose a few but my biggest fear is this match is a bit too soon for a collection of young lads. Dont get me wrong they have the talent just not a lot of experience.

In our favour is that I keep hearing the word anxious not least about the result 2 years ago..." anxious to right the the wrongs " etc....

Anxiety is good to hear and maybe a weapon.

My expectation is low for the reasons stated but hope springs eternal that your trepidation stops you performing to your best. I do believe you have more riding on this than us as we are just dusting ourselves down again and starting a new chapter. You are looking at promotion,  we at clawing this deficit back and survival .

Should be clearer tomorrow afternoon one way or tuther.

Not sure what Wigan's style is.

Are they another physical group, or do they try and play?

If Evatt is happy to use the squad in response to a specific need, then he may resort to initial selection in midfield, or even a different group.

The style is different.  We try to play the ball on the floor and out from the back which makes Dions absence important as what I've seen of him he harries the defence.  Like I said previously for the first time in years we have no shithouse player ( and I don't mean James McClean) so that worries me a bit. Our young lads seem really good players but just hope they don't wilt under pressure but will play around you if you stand off. Played Carlisle off the park last night for a hour but made a bad mistake and got punished, which is sometimes how it goes when you're still learning your trade. We will miss Aasgaard.

Overall it will be close but you are playing well but if you don't score early doors it could get interesting. Depends who turns up on the day, could be you , could be us, could be both, could be neither.

    1-1

Game was over at half time IE is passionate and he will get himself in the shit a lot this season unless he calms down. Hats off to Vic I slated him pre-season so WTF do I know !
Dion will be a miss against the tics but we have enough to beat them hopefully as I am sick of hearing the whining tics at work gloating about them walking this league and the guarentee of 6 points against us .

Don't know any Tics who think we'll walk the league so presume they are winding you up, and succeeding.  On tonight sounds routine for you lot and expected but for us we really need to put teams away after being so much on top...64% possession means fuck all when you miss chances.

On to Saturday and I make you favourites but we could shock you...would take a draw now.

    Welcome back Rubber.

I think the thing we have is that we are solid all over. Last year we let ourselves down by not finishing off teams lower in the league, hope Cheltenham is a sign we are getting over that.

The other area was our record against the others in top six. So yet to see that tested. So far our midfield and wing backs have been a real  'engine room' with decent strength in depth.

Hopefully we find out a bit more with positive results this week. Should be a tasty atmosphere with people staying just the right side of the line.

Hello lad...actually I'm trying not to look past tonight first...I know nowt about Carlisle or how good they are but don't think they'll roll over so could be dangerous to underestimate.  Dont think Fleetwood should offer much resistance but you just never know.

Hi Rubbertex, I think Saturday will be a reality test for you to see whether your opening wins have been genuine or otherwise. I don’t think we could be playing any better or be in better form so if you do get anything then it will be well deserved. Either way with a big crowd in both teams will be expected to perform. I see your attack as quality but elsewhere I suspect you’re fairly weak and that could be your downfall this year. That said your young guns have done well so far so if they can keep that going who knows where you can finish?

I kind of disagree...im happy defensively with good lads there. Our weakness lies in midfield where although we have ball players for the 1st time in ages have no shithouse.  This young Smith from Arsenal is a lovely player but i fear a good kick up the arris early doors might curtail his afternoon.

  14. I, like the majority of us am coming up on Saturday just happy to have a team to follow after the shysters that owned us buggered off. It will be difficult ofcourse but I'm thinking any pressure going could be on you as favourites...we have loads of young lads who look quite good and try to play the right way. Its a big test no doubt but so was Derby so not insurmountable.  The league itself looks winnable for someone like yourselves who can string a run together but there lies the danger of games where expectations run too far ahead. Take Northampton last Saturday who we down here all thought would be banjo'd sharpish but in reality played very well and were tricky.

I'll skip all the good luck bollocks for the rest of the season but would expect you to take one of the top 2 slots and hope we can make the playoffs.  Injuries and squad depth may play a part in any of this so who knows.

    Si thi Setdy.

You even used the same username on the Sun’lun board.

Never said I didn't just never fell out with anybody so yes, you are making things up.

Really am off now so won't be making any more inconvenience for you.

This is the second time in your postings on here that you've glorified in "Wigan's efforts" despite your own criticism of fans that engage in scrapping.

    Make your mind up.

Be in no doubt I deplore all violence in all its forms. I'm also not keen on folk making things up as well especially when they are old enough to know better. Now what about the match  ?

  17. Anyway leaving the old green street wannabees where they belong back to the match. One thing that I did notice 2nd half was how much you fanny about with the ball in areas that isn't going to harm the opposition.  By this time nerves had got the better of us and with a bit more application you could have won....but you mostly seemed happy with a point which I suppose is a compliment. I was surprised McClean wasn't sent off and the excuse thar he was getting racist abuse doesn't cut it with me because as a pro he should rise above this kind of stuff however unpleasant.

Wigan didnt want to know all day then pick off a group of old fellas 6 hours after the game.

    You couldn't make it up.

If making things up make you feel better then go for it....apparently bunch of Bolton chased down the canal and over the bridge by some Wigan youngsters. But let's go with your fairy tale eh ?
