Wanderers - Rouge Gallery (part Ii)

(Continued from part I)

Nicky Summerbee

It was hoped that right winger Summerbee would provide all the ammunition needed for the likes of Holdsworth, Hansen and Ricketts when moving from Sunderland in 2001. Unfortunately despite the Wanderers Play Off success the move did not work out too well for the player and he was not retained.

Mario Jardel

Big expectations came when one time Golden Boot winner Mario Jardel moved to Bolton just before the start of the 2003-04 season but the Brazilian was unable to get fit and rid himself of personal problems which had affected his life.

Dean Holdsworth

Hard working striker who became the club's record signing when moving for ??3.5 million from Wimbledon in 1997. Holdsworth didn't get the goals as expected in the Premiership but he contributed well to the Wanderers during their days in the old Division 1.

But he missed that sitter at Wembley!!!

Ibrahim Ba

This former World Cup winning squad member was in the wilderness when Allardyce snapped him up from AC Milan in the summer of 2003. After a proising start, it all went downhill and the player went back overseas for spells in Turkey and Sweden.

Djibril Diawara

Diawara was one of Bolton' first signings following their promotion to the Premiership in 2001. A sending off against Everton and various off the field problems meant that the club ended the contract of the gangly midfielder six months early.

I recon Djibril Diawara was quite good when he got his mind on the job. Bit like Benard Mendy, slow start but did when..............I agree with the rest
