I suspect that this is why Megson is the ideal candidate and Souness didn't want the job... Gartside said there was no money. Surely that's why BSA left, he was probably told he would have to sell Anelka. Megson's used to it so he doesn't mind. I'm not happy about it but maybe he'll prove us wrong.

I think we need to get behind Megson and be positive. Before it was decided who we would appoint, I really didn't think that we would get relegated, we only need a couple of wins to be out of it and have had a couple of games that could have gone either way. What concerns me is Gartside saying "he has the right temperament for a battle, which this season is undoubtedly going to be." Where's the ambition?! Surely as a club we can't be so reliant on one man (BSA) that we go from challenging for the Champions League one season to being only ten games in and fighting for survival?! I hope that the players don't think like that. I'm hoping that this is a one season fix but fear that we will lose our quality players in January and not replace them. If we can consolidate, maybe we will be a more attractive prosepct and get a better manager and start thinking about playing a more attractive game. We just need Gartside to put some money into the club. Getting on Megson's back before he's done anything isn't going to help. He hasn't managed a club or team like this before so hopefully things will be different. It's Gartside we're unhappy with, Megson hasn't done anything to us.

What does HBAYT mean? Should I be insulted?

I really hope it isn't Souness but it wouldn't stop me going to the games. We do need someone who can get a grip of the players which I think he could do but he may well upset the players with more fragile tempraments (Diouf, Anelka). I think that come the end of January we will be looking at a very different team when Jussi, Anelka and others leave and more backroom staff go to Newcastle. I'm just hoping that we end up doing a Man City. Not getting relegated two divisions but getting a managare everyone thought would fail but who does really well a la Sven. But without the money. Hmm. The only name I have heard that was tempting was Houllier but I can't see that happening. We need a strong personality that the players and Gartside respect to stop the exodus and get us back to winning ways. We need some rich businessman (or woman) to take over the club and get rid of Gartside. Does anyone know where we can get one?
