With European football taking precedence over league football this weekend, Chorley FC extend a warm welcome to Victory Park for their league game against Leamington on Saturday. Top-of-the-table, Chorley will be looking to extend their lead over Stockport County as the end of the season draws ever-closer. For once, the weather forecast is for a dry Saturday, so why not come along and re-live the days of standing on the terraces, a few pre-match pints of real ale in the social club and swapping ends at half-time! As a gesture for Bolton Wanderers season ticket holders, we have reduced the price of adult admission from £12 to £10, and concessions ( over 60s) from £9 to £7. Please show your current season ticket at the turnstile in order to take advantage of this offer. Admission for High School pupils remains at £5, students with ID £7, and for Primary school children accompanied by an adult, admission is FREE! Good morning, What a fantastic day for a game of football! A large crowd is expected at Chorley's Victory Park as Phil Parkinson brings his squad for their first public appearance this season. It's blue skies and sunshine all the way today, and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the ground and in local pubs. Who needs Benidorm when you can go to Chorley? A reminder about Adlington Carnival, so please set off in plenty of time and plan your alternative route. The 'top' road will be clear and open in time for the journey home. Traffic Alert!! This Saturday, 8th July, is also Adlington Carnival. The main roads through Adlington will be closed between 12.00 noon and 5.00pm. If you are travelling through Horwich, you will be better travelling through Rivington, over the motorway bridge to the Bay Horse pub, then along Long Lane to Limbrick, then short distance to Chorley town centre near Morrisons. Coming from Chorley New Road and Westhoughton area, use M61 and come off at Junction 8. I hope you do not experience to much inconvenience, but you will have the opportunity to try a few new pubs on route - Bay Horse top of Babylon Lane, Black Horse at Limbrick, Spinners at Cowling Brow, etc.

Apparently all the car parks in Chorley town centre are free after 1.00pm on Saturdays, but the main Flat Iron car park has a limit of 2 hours and a' time of arrival' ticket must be displayed. I would suggest car park next to MacDonald's which is accessed via roundabout next to MacD's. If full, continue through car park and go under the railway to Friday Street car park. You will see the Malt and Hops real ale pub ahead of you. But please check signage in car parks. If you are early, you should be able to park closer to ground, I usually park along Pilling Lane. Be great to see you and any other ex-Leigh RMI supporters on Saturday. The winners of the match will be awarded the Harold Taylor Trophy, in memory of the late Harold who was club secretary at Horwich RMI, Leigh RMI and Chorley FC for many years, and, of course, a Wanderers fan. I expect Keith Branagan's son, Ritchie, will play in goal for some part of Saturday's game.

We are looking forward to a strong Bolton squad visiting Victory Park this Saturday for the start of the pre-season games. This is a great opportunity to see new signings wearing their new club colours for the first time, and to see fans' favourites close up. Get a few autographs or even a selfie with the stars! A visit to a non-league ground is an opportunity to re-live the 'good old days' of standing on the terraces, having a pie and a brew in the open air and swapping ends at half-time. This is something many youngsters will never have experienced and so we hope to make it a great 'family day' with FREE admission for under 12s and £5.00 for everyone else. The social club will be open from about 1.00pm and serves a range of ales and lagers at very reasonable prices, and the food from the Magpies' Nest snack bar is top quality. Free car parking in selective car parks in Chorley town centre after 1.00pm, but leave the car at home and enjoy a town centre pub crawl before walking the short distance to Victory Park. If you really want to make a full day of it, The Henry Tate, a Wetherspoons pub, opens at 8.00am! We are wondering how many Wanderers fans to expect so that we can stock up the bar and order the pies! Hope that you and your family and friends can make it. Expect quite a few of Chorley's first team regulars to be rested on Tuesday as we did last week at Kendal in the Doodson Cup game, however we still managed a 3-1 win. Quite a few niggly injuries in the Chorley camp so difficult to predict the starting eleven. Last time we played a team from Atherton, we lost to LR in the cup, so we won't be approaching this game lightly. Social club will be open and serving a wide selection of beers. Pies chips, burgers, etc all available from the snack bar - you can have your tea at Chorley FC! We look forward to meeting the supporters of Atherton Collieries.

.......but before the Colliers visit Chorley's Victory Park on Tuesday, the Magpies have a massive game this Saturday against Matlock Town in the FA Trophy. The winners will progress to the First Round proper and could secure a tie with a Conference 'giant' such as Grimsby Town, Stockport County or Macclesfield Town. With no Premier or Championship games due to international friendlies, a bumper crowd is expected. Despite beating Matlock 3-1 last week, they will not be push-overs, so expect a feisty, lively contest and enjoy a nippy November Saturday afternoon on the terraces - remember those, some people might call it REAL football. With the Wanderers away at Brighton this Saturday, if you are not heading to the south coast then you have the perfect opportunity to experience local non-league football at its best!! Chorley FC are at home to King's Lynn Town, 3.00pm kick-off at Chorley's Victory Park. The Magpies will be hoping to get back to winning ways following their 0-1 defeat at Skelmersdale United on Tuesday. Skem broke Chorley's unbeaten record and replaced them at the top of the table. It's going to be 'tight at the top' this season with Skelmersdale, Chorley, FC United and Fylde likely to be challenging come the end of the season. Once again, Wanderers season ticket holders will be admitted for only £5.00 on production of a current season ticket at the turnstile. The social club will be showing Sky Sports all afternoon, and, hopefully, a crowd of 1,000+ will be standing on the terraces - remember those? About 100 Wanderers season ticket holders helped to swell the Victory Park attendance to a fantastic 896!! Chorley played some fantastic flowing football and were worthy 3-0 winners. New signing James Dean looked very impressive up front. Great friendly atmosphere and lots of friendly banter between supporters. Non-League Day.........this Saturday, 7th September Established three years ago, Non-League Day has now grown to become an annual part of the football calendar, and for the first time Chorley FC have a home fixture as they host Stafford Rangers at The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium. Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non-League Day gives fans of football league clubs the chance to see what's going on at a club that is on their doorstep which they may be unfamiliar with or not even know exists! By spreading the word and promoting Non-League Day, members of Chorley FC are hoping that supporters of Bolton Wanderers will turn up at Victory Park on Saturday, 7th September and experience the passion and enthusiasm of both players and volunteers involve in the non-league game. As an additional incentive, Chorley FC will be admitting Wanderers season ticket holders for only £5.00 on the production of a current season ticket at the turnstile. As Chorley FC celebrates its 130th year, it is the traditional values and sense of belonging that makes non-league football so appealing to supporters. Admission prices are realistic, you can often stand anywhere in the ground and you are guaranteed a warm welcome from fellow supporters and the willing volunteers who run the club. The Victory Park social club provides a wide range of beers in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and Sky Sports provides further entertainment before and after the game. Disappointing result but a great game! Very good attendance - 438. About 30 Wanderers season ticket holders took advantage of the ?3.50 admission offer, along with 14 Rovers, 10 PNE and 8 'Latics season ticket holders. A big 'Thank you' to all who came along. Good luck at Wakefield on Saturday!! I saw the Leigh V Rossendale game last night - great hat-trick from Jansen, third goal was best goal I've seen at VP this season. I may be there for Leigh V Skem, but definately there on Saturday 27th for Chorley V Leigh Genesis. We are hoping to have a players re-union at this game for former Chorley, Horwich RMI and Leigh RMI/Genesis players, particularly those who played with or for Ken Wright and/or Steve Waywell.
