  1. Basically the Jews say it's their ancient sacred homeland going back 1,000s years, before being expelled, eventually to all points (hence the term diaspora). Over time the Arabs moved in, with various wrangles with Christians in the Holy Land (the Crusades) and others along the way. Things seemed to have settled down until the British Balfour Declaration in 1917 that committed to giving the Jews their national homeland in Palestine. Unfortunately I don't think anyone told the Palestinians. This became a reality in 1945 for perhaps understandable reasons. Ironically Palestine was a British protectorate and not really up for giving it over lockstok and barrel so the Jews fought the British to get their independence. Israel was then formed in 1948 and the rest, as they say, is history!

  2. I think it's more about competition for land and who has supremecy. Obviously add in the vast religious and cultural divide and it's a lethal combination. Not defending religion at all, but I think even without it there would still be big trouble in this part of the world anyway

I watched “ the family way” last week

    filmed in Bolton in 1966

how many of us can admit to feeding the lions on the town hall square with sugar cubes from the Wimpy

Is that where they go to a Wanderers match? Or is that Spring and Port Wine?

  4. Wycombe were a credit when we played them there with our kids. A class act tbf.

On the other hand, as has been said, Derby have used administration several times over the years to get out of their financial obligations, thereby stiffing umpteen creditors, and then re-emerging with a clean slate further down the line again. The shenanigans with the owner buying the ground and players wages accounting swerves to get around FFP have to be called out, and the punishment should be this season not next.

    So fuck Derby.

So it looks like this is just a midweek competition that’s being proposed. The clubs want to do this whilst continuing to take the money from the domestic leagues too. Well you can’t have your cake and eat it

Well they can get to fuck with that. Cheeky greedy cunts.

And to think that for generations Citeh defined themselves as the antidote to those crass, soulless money grabbing red twats on the other side of town. Well they're right up there / down there with them now by getting behind this money making scam.

    Shameful

No age 54, cracking actor, Jim gets on ya tits and you just know he's gonna ring that doorbell with Wilson in tow every episode, proper cringe, all part of the drama and superbly written.

And you would do Jackie and her mate, played brilliantly by Tamsin Greig and Tracy-Anne Orberman

Correct on all counts Mr Grey!!

I agree, but I wouldn't advise anybody to miss a whole series, it definitely gets better as the seasons go on, and Paul Ritters character advances and becomes funnier as the series' go on. He was just brilliant, in fact I aspire to be just like his character 😃

Yes fair point. I just wouldn't want anyone to miss out by sacking it off too early. Jim's character also develops as the series goes on too. For me though it's Martin who steals the show. PR (or anyone else for that matter) going at just 54 is an absolute sickener

Never seen it, but daughter is always going on about how brilliant it is. Might give it a go tonight.

Tbh I would start at series two as IMO series one isn't anything like as good as s2 onwards. Just my opinion

Gonna watch the whole series of Friday Night Dinner again, in homage to the brilliant Paul Ritter.

    Shit on it!

Same here. Fabulous comedy. It just got better and better as the series went on. Shit on it indeed..

Nobody ever can explain it, it's very odd. If it was taken at birth though, then you'd probably feel differently and wouldn't give a fuck. I think adults going and volunteering to do it would probably feel weird. As you say though, if you do nothing wrong and don't intend doing, it really shouldn't make any difference to anybody, but you would at least know that if you ever did something wrong, then it'd be easier to track you down

You've already got the UK Gov't using laws for scenarios they weren't originally passed for, massive data leakages and general IT incompetence, not to mention what a future Gov't might end up doing with the DNA data (selling it on to insurance companies?). No way would I want any of that risk with DNA profiles. I'm not really that fussed about the libertarian / freedom angle, I simply don't trust the competence or scruples of any organisation. And with its poor track record in IT and data probably the Gov't least of all.

    I meant since

You know, now theyve got 100s of millions

Not that I know of. Ownership has changed a couple of times since so I very much doubt any new owner would feel any moral obligation to go back and pay the debts of a previous regime (but hey, that's business!). Plus a number of the small and medium businesses in question had already long since gone to the wall.

    And everyones favourite second team

    Bollocks it is

Have they ever paid off the small credivtors...i know theres no requirement to

Unsecured creditors nothing, secured got 30p in the pound. Some local businesses and suppliers went to the wall because of it. Nice

Rules have been tightened up a lot since then (as we've found out)

IIRC the rules changed after Leicester City piled up a huge debt  (including building a nice new shiny stadium) and then went into administration knowing the points deduction wouldn't get them relegated. They then simply 're-formed' whilst still sitting pretty in the Championship. Different story for all the poor creditors though of course.

Less than 13 years later they were parading the PL Trophy in said nice new shiny stadium.

  14. I don't post very often, more a bit of a lurker tbh. However, I can honestly say that WWs has helped keep me sane this year. So thank you. And it just confirms what I've always thought and what we all know deep down - BWFC is very, very special indeed. So Happy Christmas to all my fellow Whites everywhere - and COYFWM!!
