Aberdeen are set to sign the younger brothers of Finnish veteran striker Mixu Paatelainen.

 

Dons manager Jimmy Calderwood last night confirmed his interest in handing Mikko and Markus Paatelainen deals until the summer after the pair impressed in trials.

 

Mikko is a strong and powerful striker likened to that of his 37-year-old brother who is currently at St Mirren.

 

The 24-year-old has netted five goals from 32 starts in Finland's top flight.

 

The youngest brother of the Paatelainen family, Markus, 22, is a speedy winger who can play on either flank.

 

Calderwood said: "Mikko and Markus have trained very well with us and, yes, I am interested in signing them. They have both looked good.

 

"There is a chance that they will join and be with Aberdeen until the summer.

 

"But I don't want to end up with egg on my face. The deals haven't been agreed just yet and they would still have to pass their medicals."
