WANDERERS make four changes from the side that lost 3-2 against Recreativo Huelva on Tuesday for tonight's third place play-off match against Sevilla in the Colombino Trophy.

 

The most notable addition is Mexican international striker Jared Borgetti, who will partner El Hadji Diouf and Ricardo Vaz Te in the front three.

 

Academy youngster Mark Charlesworth replaces Blazej Augustyn at the back and there are run outs for Ian Walker and Polish young pro Jaroslaw Fojut.

 

Stelios has been named amongst the substitutes and is likely to play some part in the second half.

 

Meanwhile, Sevilla name three players in the strarting XI - Marti, Fabiano, Maresca - that played in the UEFA Cup Final victory over Middlesbrough in May.

IN sweltering conditions in Huelva, Sevilla go into the half-time break in full control of the game leading an inexperienced Wanderers side by 2-0.

 

Wanderers started brightly and in the opening 30 seconds had Sevilla on the back foot. A Nolan cross from the right nearly found the unmarked Borgetti at the far post, but the cross was too high for the Mexican.

 

After Wanderers' early efforts in dominating play, it was Sevilla who scored the opening goal after five minutes. Talented striker Kepa delivered a superb cross deep from the right hand side to find Brazilian goal poacher Fabiano free in the six yard box, who powered his header past Walker in the Bolton goal.

 

Sevilla started to take control of the game and looked particularly strong on the break with their fleet footed midfield and front two of Kepa and Fabiano causing problems for the Whites defence.

 

Wanderers still stuck to their task and on 25 minutes, came close with an equalizer from Mexican Borgetti. He showed why he has great ability in the box with an instinctive shot from ten yards out shaving the crossbar after excellent build up play by Diouf.

 

Wanderers little cameo was shortlived, as Fabiano scored his second goal two minutes later, when he pounced onto a lovely through ball by Marti to slot home his shot from close-range.

ended up 3-0 hatrick from Fabiano.

Reads like The Borg had a point to prove!

Why don't we go after Fabiano?

Out of intrest was the Sevilla team full strength. I know its only a friendly with a weakened side but the fact is 8 players started that I would be comfortable as 1st teamers yet we have let in 3 again . Did the hot conditions have alot to do with it.
