Tottenham's new signing Steed Malbranque has undergone a hernia operation which will sideline him for two months.

Coach Martin Jol confirmed the playmaker opted to have the operation following his ??2million move from Fulham last week.

 

Jol said: "It was his decision and he will be out for seven or eight weeks."
