Using the headphone socket, try any of these Sonys http://www.ogormans.co.uk/personal_speakers.htm I've got a pair of the ?9 ones for the guest room and they're fairly portable but not hand-luggage portable and a good quality sound. The SRS-T33 look good but only run off batteries - I'd suggest you get some that can be mains or battery powered.
