Woman steals ?19,000 worth of scratchcards... and wins ?50

A post office worker in Wales has admitted stealing ?19,000 worth of Lottery scratchcards over 14 months in a bid to brighten up her long days at work.

But despite taking up to 10 scratchcards a day, 50-year-old Ellen Davies? biggest win was a meagre ?50.

Davies? crime was only discovered after the post office received correspondence from lottery company Camelot congratulating it on increasing its scratchcard sales by 90%.

Postmaster Nicholas Evans then studied CCTV footage that showed Davies removing cards without paying for them.

Once arrested, Davies blamed the boredom of working in the shop for her actions, reports Mirror.co.uk.

She later admitted theft and false accounting and was given an eight-month suspended jail sentence.

I once had a huge win of ?17 on a scratch card so would have to agree with your statement!

on that note i did see a scrote buy 20 at once at the shop near the dofcocker and i was in car eatin me dinner so noticed her scratch off one by one throwing away none winners. anyways she went back in to i assume collect winnings to wich she converted into more scratch cards. did same again and poped back in the shop came out and continued to scratch the new cards.she went in on 4 seperat occasions unfortunatly she must have run out of luck so ripped em all up scattering em everywere and fooked off in a proper pissy fit!!

 

Very amusing for a dull lunch our.

I reckon she's done well out of it.

Rob 19 grand worth of goods, get a suspended sentence. Why bother working for a living?

She got off lightly because she's a woman. FACT.

 

A bloke "acquires" ?19,000 and he'll be treated worse than a suspended sentence, I reckon.
