clunes does his best, but int original, the whole cast is superb, and original

Unfortuatly for Clunes he is up against Leonard Rossiter and just because of that he is on a loser. Rossiter was the perfect person for this role and no one could improve on that. Clunes hasn't really got close. Rightly or wrongly, and I don't know about anyone else, but when I watch this new series i'm comparing it to the old one all the time.

What next a remake of It Ain't Half Hot Mum or Are You Being Served? some things are better left untouched. Perrin is one of them.

Aye, Clunes is flavour of the moment and makes a good fist of it. Maybe folks who weren't old enough to have seen the original could give some input. It's OK in the fact that it's a 'tribute' to a great old series, but nobody could ever replace Leonard Rossiter.

Maybe they shoulda pitched it as something different, then perhaps people would say 'shades of Reggie Perrin' rather than it trying to be an updated version of the original masterpiece.

Personally I think that some series should be left as they were. Fawlty Towers and rising damp remakes next anyone?

I didn't get where I am today................

Used to watch the original with my dad back in the 80's, I was too young to get most of the jokes but still loved it.

I saw 2 mins of the new one, and my conclusion is - BAG OF WANK.

Leonard Rossiter RIP
