April 30, 200422 yr the cotton tree was the in place for some good stuff, that place still standing Funny tale about the Cotton Tree: I work as a Fireman in Bolton. One November 5th, we attended a call to a dangerous bonfire outside The Cotton Tree Public House, Price St. Bolton. When we got there, we saw that they had used the GPO telegraph pole, still with cables attached, as the centre pole for the bonfire! Could only have happened there! . . . . . . . .or could it? On another November 5th, I attended a report of an explosion in the Griffin, Great Moor St. When we got there, we found out they had bought a box of Standard Fireworks, placed it on the floor and thrown a match in. We went in with breathing apperatus on and the clientelle were still sitting at the bar! Nothing to do with cannabis but, hey, Northampton White mentioned the Cotton Tree. . . .
