Help Please, Laptops Gone Into A Coma!

Just wondering if anyone can help?

My laptop, which is a Toshiba A300d Equium will not boot up.

When i switch the power on, it will light up and go on the toshiba screen with the f2 and f12 shit at the bottom, but then it just goes blank and won't boot up.

It won't even allow me to press F8 to try and restore factory settings!

I have lost the recovery disk and obviously the warranty has run out.

Has anyone had a simmilar problem, or has my machine just ceased to be?

If there's a reset button on it, try that first.

If not, disconnect from the power and remove the battery for 30 seconds.

Then power back up.

To be honest, it sound like your hard drive may wll be fooked (which is serious as far as your data goes)

When the press Press F2 / F12 option comes up, press F12, and see if you can select diagnostics to run.

I tried to press f12 the f9 to reset i think, but then just goes to blank screen again.

I'm not too arsed about saving anything on the hard drive, i just want the thing to work again.

Thanks though!

How old is the laptop?

Only 18 months!

Then take it back to where you bought it. The Sale of Goods Act gives you the right to get it sorted for free, irrespective of the expired warranty.

Just thought i'd let you know Traf,

I have brought it to work to let the techy nerd have a look, and it is a dead hard drive to which he happens to have a spare. :good:

Thanks for your help though!
