I read somewhere that this guy would have come back in the 50's but because he had spent so long at the wrong side of the Iron curtain he couldnt get a job in the UK because he was suspected of being a spy for the soviets.

 

Shame really as he was obviously well ahead of the game!

It was after the first world war he was seen as a traitor, after the Hungary loss at wembeley there where calls for him to be involved with the England team but they said that he was too old.

Interesting article that. I'd never even heard of him before. Sounds as if he was light years ahead of his time.

 

If you watch the England v Hungary game it's noticeable how the Hungarian goals wouldn't look out of place in todays game, whereas England's tactics where basically just kick and rush.
