Pontefract Tomorrow

Featured Replies

I'm off to Pontefract tomorrow for the first time with a few mates. Is it a decent track or not? Any trainers who I should be looking out for and is there a draw bias? Any tips would obviously be appreciated, I had a brief look earlier and the going is good too which makes a change of late.

A couple of my mates from round there have mentioned this horse called Mr Wolf racing in the last, is he some sort of local legend?

Cheers

Mr Wolf is indeed a legend at Pontefract, with 8 wins and 11 placed finishes from 35 runs there. I made an absolute bundle on him years ago whilst there with Ani from on here!

His record at Ponty over 6 furlongs is: 3 wins and 2 x 2nd from 13 attempts.

All well & good, but...

Hes now 11yrs old and hasn't won at Ponty in his last 11 races there stretching back almost 2 yrs and hios last win anywhere was at Catterick 16 races ago in August 2010.

I can't see him winning tomorrow and he'll probably be too short to back E/W, however, i'll have a clearer picture of this race and the whole meeting tomorrow when we know the ground conmditions and who's running.

PS He's also drawn in stall 10, when you want to be drawn low in 5f and 6f sprints.

Couldn't get on site to post my runthrough for you, sorry.

But you'd have done OK: trust me.

No problem, I did alright in the end. We missed the first race but I had a 7/1 and 9/4 winner from the other five races so I did pretty well. Mr Wolf was a non-runner in the last. It was totally different to the racecourses I've been to before, £3.80 for a can of Strongbow was a bit steep though!

Rapidly becoming the norm at racetracks.
