  1. Think that he was a folk hero at Sunderland. He could head a ball.

Seem to remember that he had a good partnership with Marsh?

Our problem in his time was scoring.

  2. Think that he was originally a central defender.

Suppose that he was a late long term reserve.

I remember Ernie Phythian who always looked useful in the Reserves. Terry Allcock was probably our best long term reserve. Just before my reserve watching days.

Got face in the crowd and a pair of Reebok trainers when we won there 2-0  in the naughties.

Crap draw but a new ground for my son, so I’m happy for him.

Seem to remember Tommo scoring with a belting shot out of nowhere. The ground was a dump then. Hope it has improved.

I'll take another 0-0 but no reason why we can't win

Remember my Campo moment at Portsmouth. We won there 1-0 in the Premier League. He ran the show and I don't remember one pass not to a member of his own team. The Campo role par excellence.

    i'm sorry, he doesn't

There was a review on Sky towards the end of last season on L! play off winners with a former Charlton manager ?Ben Garner. He said he really fancied us now e had signed Dan Ndlunlu from Southampton who he rated as an all round striker. Still I suppose you know better, errr!

I heard (more than once) that Tommy and Roy used to shit Mathews up.

" When tha's done wi' 'im Roy, punce 'im oer 'ere", but I can't vouch for its authenticity.

T'was the gravel rash falling of the Burnden pitch that did it.

Actually they were both excellent tacklers and Roy could land a ball on a sixpence from 50 yards.

So I don't think they were just choppers. And knew what they could get away with.

  7. Defensively we are poor in midfield. We haven't replaced Williams with anyone with bite. Like at Reading playing the game out and holding on to a lead is all about a strong defensive midfield which we haven't got.

Surprised how many are giving Dempsey a pass. For a supposed hard man I thought he bottled the challenges time and time again.

We got rolled by average physically strong teams last season like Plymouth away.

We have got rid of our best midfield tackler (Williams), and our best defensive organiser (Aimson) and replaced them with physically weaker players.

    So, any surprise?

    Early observations that’s all

If that same talent spotter that brought us Jerome and Adeboyejo in January is still at work, we've got problems. Terrible waste of £1m and plenty of wages no doubt.

We just got rid of one in Kachunga😄

When you play this holding lateral soccer, you need someone with a bit of pace up front to make the break. We've got rid of our 2 quickest forwards in Kachunga and the lad who went to St. Pauli.

So unless we get get someone pacy, lots of 1-0s both ways next season. A bit like last season in the goals department.

  11. I think that they should have a statue of David Wagstaffe with a fag in his hand. That was his half time action mode.

Seems to have gone all quiet on the City financial irregularities.
