Much as i love Evatt's brand of football, is hoofball eg Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday more suited to getting you out of Div 1.

Possibly is yes, but I’ve seen enough of that shit over the years and I want to watch some good football. Maybe I’ve chilled as I’ve got older and seen the good and the shit along the way. I’d rather try and do it playing some slick stuff. To be honest I’m not really bothered about what league we’re in. It just been good to have some good times back. 15-20 years ago if we lost I’d be fuming for days over analysing stuff. I’m a lot more relaxed about it nowadays

68% of the ball and no shots in target. evatt ball needs to change as that's shite

He’s aware we’ve not scored enough goals. He admitted that. It’s about evolving and tweaking not just suddenly ripping up your principles and shithousing our way out of this league. Been there, seen that and it’s boring

I agree about the scoring goals part, and when you consider Dion has 15,16, how ever many league goals he got, there's not many from everyone else. That's an area where we need to improve.

But it's a double edged sword. Part of the reason our defensive record was joint best in the league is we have so much possession that teams don't have the ball long enough to create chances against us.

Were a victim of our own success. Teams used to press us high and we'd beat it and run riot. Now teams respect us so sit deeper and we haven't figured out how to play against this effectively and we end up with 70 percent possession and no shots on target.

But it's a work in progress. City used to have this problem. We don't have 100 million to sign Jack grealish etc but we need to work out how to beat teams that do this.  Once you start to score and create against teams that sit deep, you make them have to come out and attack and that opens it up.

Barnsley created fuck all proper chances last night. They scored from a cross, they had shots outside the box, they crossed it at every opportunity, they long balled and went back to front all the time. They used the long throw every time they had a chance. It was just pressure. It's basic. I'd hate to watch that every week. It's just get it in the mixer football that will see them get relegated in the championship. Fuck the long throw long ball Yorkshire cunts.

I'd rather watch us actually try and become league one city than resort to the type of football that I played when I was 12 on a Sunday.

Completely agree. Evatt said in the post match interview that he wants to play his way and it takes time. Seen enough hoofball and it’s shit. I want us to be a slick machine and if it takes a bit longer then so be it

    Couldn’t agree more.

we can talk all day about how great Wembley was and how far we’ve come, but  there’s no hiding away from how pathetic that was. Learnt fuck all from that 1st leg.

Beaten by a solid, marginally better side. Yes we wanted more, but we have to just accept they did a job on us

  5. We got to the play offs with 2 of last seasons championship teams and a team with a far bigger budget than we have. Won a trophy at Wembley. A good solid season. Massive transfer window needed in the summer.

I’m afraid footballs changing, it’s all about statistics now and as has been said, certainly at our level very few of the shots actually result in goals. IE is probably the most statistical manager we’ve ever had and stats are great but sometimes lead down the wrong path. That said, statistics or not Evatt’s done a cracking job so far so I’m more than happy to leave things to him rather than armchair managers like us. 🥴

Definitely must be stats based as you see nearly every team with everyone back at corners

    Very true.

He doesn't always make the best crosses, but he does at least try.

Number of times on the right later in the game, Dan or whoever had it constantly refused to put a ball in. Saw Dion bust an absolute gut on one occasion to get into the box and yet again no delivery.

Can't say I was surprised by the performance though. Time and again against the better quality, hard pressing teams, Sheehan is rendered ineffective.

Not entirely down to him though, we just become a little formulaic at times.

As soon as Lee comes on, the movement improves and the speed of the passing picks up and we look better.

Not particularly concerned though, as I've probably as much confidence of beating them away as I have at home.

Whilst Sheehan is a tidy player, I expect to see Morley in that position next game. We improved as soon as Morley dropped back

A point. Down to 6th. Not really promotion form. Hopefully things will pick up again soon, but we've put pressure on ourselves to beat the Shrews now.

8 points from 12 with 3 aways from 4 is not too shabby

  9. We massively miss santos and toal. Allows us to be further up the pitch because of their abilty to quickly recover. Plus can both carry the ball better than our other CB’s

  10. I had L5/S1 nerve compression from the disc. Part of the disc broke off. Couldn’t get up off the floor, had to have an operation. Got permanent nerve damage  in my foot and I walk with a funny gait and can’t stand on my tip toes on my right leg. I sympathise with anyone who has back trouble. It’s horrible

Barry bannan is on over 20k a week he is at a different level yes santos isn’t decent at this level probably not the best centre half in the division and definitely not vastly superior

He is and I bet if you ask every league 1 manager they would say the same

  12. 4 minutes ago, Tonge moor green jacket said:

    Quite.

The concept of one being "vastly superior" is for the birds.

Both decent, one indeed better overall, but both in league one.

If our captain was that good, he wouldn't be with us now.

I know where you’re coming from but that’s like saying someone like Barry bannan is on the same level as other league 1 midfielders when he simply isn’t
