the locals went through a different gate than us, we all had our passports collected by the border guard who came on the bus and took them away to stamp them then he wouldn't just give us the lot back and let us go,he had to hand them out personally to everyone and check their photos.every passport gets stamped by the macedonian guards then you drive two hundred yards and get the same treatment off the bulgarians so its like going through two border checks

we did this trip on a coach for the england game last year we set off back at midnight and got to sofia airport at 7:30am and only just made the flight,the border crossing took over two hours but there were about 4 coaches there at the same time,theres a cheap little bar at the border point to help pass the time
