Matt Taylor now confitmed as Shrewsbury Town manager

Getting rid of an experienced hand like Cotterill and replacing him with Taylor isn't a move I'd have made

We replaced an experienced hand, replaced him with an unknown, that didn't turn out to badly,

Very very meh. I could get with the simplicity if it wasn't for green sponsors once again on the front and even the back this time.

We've had nice kits screwed over by sponsors for so long now.

FFS it's a sponsorship with money coming into the club, I'd put money coming in over a shit looking bit of writing on a shirt.

Just a reminder for anyone who forgot, these were the original options.

someone on acting ITK on Twitter (before the announcement) said we have gone for the plain home one (which was confirmed today) and the black away kit…

    Albufeira on the piss?

Baxter will travel with the squad to Portugal for a training camp at the end of the month and could be joined by Bolton-born keeper Joel Coleman, recently released at Ipswich Town, who is also in talks about a deal.

    Could be,

  5. Question folk are asking is why didn't he buy them in admin, he could and would have had a bargain compared to what it is now, millions owed in wages, millions to HMRC, he didn't get to be a billionaire by spunking loads of money on a shit show.

I want to be optimistic but honestly some of the transfer rumours and comments made by Sharon and IE have been worrying.

I'm not sure IE knows what a team that can beat League 1 looks like, nevermind compete in the Championship.

I maybe harking back a bit but that entire Toughsheet business worries me, based on Sharon's comments she picked Toughsheet for the naming rights because they're "Lifelong fans"...very strange if true.

FV's business plan to "successfully and profitably operate a professional football club." seems to be counter to their current objective of reaching the Championship. To meet that objective significant investment in the squad is needed, in wages and or transfer spending. This would then make the team unprofitable especially in the short term. I dont think you can have your cake and eat it, in this respect. There was talk of using the "Preston model" of selling players for profit, without the understanding that it took them almost a decade to do this and they've been unprofitable since 2019.

It all sounds a bit amateur.

OK lets go out and throw huge amounts of money at it. get promoted, then pay stupid wages, then end up like Wigan, now that sounds like a plan, whadya think?

  7. You don't get to be a Billionaire by throwing good money after bad, they need to see the books, and after seeing the total debts I would be surprised if this rugby bloke baled them out, like as been said though the rugby would need a home so could that sway him to lead a consortium of money men, who knows, hope he runs a mile from them tw@ts though.

You're right. To get that automatic promotion spot you basically can't have an off month. 2nd Ipswich had 4 losses all season, that gulf between 100ish points and 81 is massive.

Not only are we "massively weakened without Traf & Bradley." our squad wasn't good enough WITH them.

Due to the way IE plays and the formation, our midfield isn't working it's essentially being bypassed in many cases and is switching off. We need a quality enforcer who will bring people into play.

Fucking hell you're a source of great optimism, lets see how the Summer pans out FFS.

  9. Getting pretty good over there right now!

WE NEED HELP.........PLEASE will someone, anyone who can and loves Wigan and it's people step in and save us before it's too late. Ex players, business people lottery winners !! ANYONE that can........please save us. I really can't imagine what it would be like having no football team to follow. It can't happen ....can it?

An update from the meeting KDZ & myself attended

Wigan Athletic fan groups have tonight met ahead of another critical deadline for the club, the payment of all club staff tomorrow.
The eight-figure investment that fans were told would appear ‘imminently’ last week has still not been made.
This is a worrying, critical and unacceptable situation.
Regarding staff and player wages, which are due tomorrow, we have been informed that pay slips have gone out to all club employees - something that has not happened ahead of previous missed payments.
However, an email has followed this informing them that payment will not take place overnight and will appear throughout the day.
This is very concerning. Of course, there is a further points deduction pending but once again, the overriding issue here is the security of the staff and the bills they have to pay.
The club is in urgent need of stability.
We are therefore issuing the club with two hard deadlines.
1- All staff and players to be paid by the end of tomorrow.
2- The promised eight-figure sum to be paid within one week from today.
If either of these deadlines are not met, we will work with the Council, MP, EFL and FSA to demand the owners look to sell the club.
Should the club meet these deadlines, we would then implore the Chairman and directors to host a public meeting at the earliest opportunity to detail their medium and long-term plans for the future of the football club.
