  1. Just out of curiosity, why do so many people think SWP is a charlie big-time knobhead??

I've never heard him come out in the press and moan about anything. He just gets his head down and when called upon tends to play pretty well. Also, whenever he plays he always looks like he gives 100% (admittedly, not 110% which some people demand). He certainly looks to put in more of a shift than his former Bulgarian team-mate.

Yes, he's demanding big wages, but why shouldn't he? He's still under contract so why should he move elsewhere for less money.

I've also read reference to him owning a flash car. Hmmm. Now, I seem to remember getting some shit for whingeing about Nicky Hunt and his Lambo and/or Ferrari being parked up on matchday, yet SWP, an England international, isn't allowed a Roller? How odd.

SWP would be a cracking signing if it could happen. I've got my fingers crossed anyway.

That'll be me then, as one of the guilty party, not the exact phrase I used, though i'll expand on the comment. I've always said the written word is the worst form of communication, basically because it's in the readers interpretation of the comment & the feeling is never interpretated correctly or expanded on enough that verbal communication can.

My point with SWP is that he has built a career on the back of his (step)father's career more than his poorer talented brother did. though it's on the back of their (step)fathers legendary success that's built them up & got them to the opportunity that fortune has been laid upon them, fair play, though it's the media wanting to fill pages & 'old school ties' mentality associated with such that's got him were he his. Good luck to the lad, he's welcome to it!! Take any & every opportunity that life gives you to get the maximum return out of it. Fair play to you :good:

Would I want him in the team tomorrow for the gifts he could bring to the team & the needs we have at the moment..... yeah, course i would.

Would i do it for 80k a week..... NO, he's not worth it, he's not that good, ageing etc to warrant that amount, compared to equally, yet potential cheaper riskier alternatives.

I think, as other clubs also think from their non interest, he's not worth what he thinks he is. He's made his top end, he's got his worth out of the game. He now needs to ask himself..... "what do i want from my last few years?"..... if i was so lucky to be in that situation, the answer is very simple.

If we are to believe what we read, he did want to come to us :good: , he's a mate of ZK's & was willing to reduce his wages :good: , though unfortunately not by enough to meet our budget, so clearly didn't want to join us enough. It's simple in my eyes SWP ('cos I am simple) if I was in your shoes, already made my money, now i want to do well as a footballer..... I want to join BWFC, I want to play week in week out, I want to prove i'm as I think I am & by playing week in week out, I want to prove I'm good enough to get back in the England squad, Go to the Euro's next summer, play my little bloody heart out...... & be a LEGEND like my dad was... for the right reasons not just money. THEN he would already be a legend, instead of a money grabbing, final last pay cheque waste of space, modern day footballing LEECH SCUMBAG, we've all become to hate and loathe.

Oh, before the usual "why shouldn't he, short playing career, it's the way the game has gone, sympathying media zombies" come back at me....... I give you Exhibit A,....... GUDNI BERGSSON, made an F' load of cash through football, even got offered to extend his career at such a late stage in his career but NO, trained to be a lawyer in his latter playing days............ and left at the top of his game, as a legend. Still works now, even though I'm sure he's enough money not to have to. A proper man, therefore a LEGEND.

Anyway, I'm ranting, I hope my worst form of communication, the written word, has made my simplistic view on life/football a little clearer for you (turn off computer, fall in bed, wake up with hangover :lazy: goodnight all )

  2. ALI Al-Habsi?s move to Wigan could hinge on Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Negotiations have stalled over Latics? bid to sign the goalkeeper as Wanderers look to resolve Jaaskelainen?s future.

Owen Coyle is happy to let Al- Habsi, pictured, who impressed while on a season-long loan at the DW Stadium last term, leave in a deal worth up to ?4million.

But the Bolton manager wants Jaaskelainen?s contract situation resolved first before the Oman international?s exit is rubberstamped.

The veteran Finn has just one-year left on his existing deal and Wanderers fear that, should they hit a stumbling block with Jaaskelainen after allowing Al- Habsi to depart, then they would be left with the inexperienced Adam Bogdan as their first-choice keeper.

Aston Villa and West Brom are also monitoring Al-Habsi?s situation but have yet to table an offer for 29-yearold shot-stopper.

Wanderers have turned down two bids already from Wigan ? the latest a ?3million offer which was rejected last week.

However, Wigan remain determined to sign the keeper who was one of the stars of last season?s successful survival campaign, and are understood to be considering an improved bid.

Wanderers do not anticipate any problems with Jaaskelainen who is happy to see out his playing days at the Reebok.

But, should talks break down, there would be no shortage of suitors for the 36-year-old number one, who joined the club in 1997 and passed 500 appearances for the Whites last season.

Given this was reported in the B(E)N, onthe 8th of June, questions need to be asked. It's my understanding that Jussi had signed an extension to allow Al-Habsi to leave?

So who's the fibbing get? Wanderers or Jussi, something stinks and I'm not happy. WTF is going on? I'm guessing somebody is getting right royally shafted and i see the finger being pointed strongly in our direction

  3. How is our defence weaker this season? Lee is a good player but for me he did relatively little for large parts of last season. Some people need to get a grip. The way people react to setbacks is ridiculous. I'd not want to be stuck in the trenches with half you lot.

    Are you a World War I re-enacter ;)

  4. Rate the lad, always have. The issue has always been his fitness levels. Looking a lot sharper and averaging a goal a game, great for his confidence.

Granted it's against a lot poorer opposition than he's likely to see week in, week out in the prem, but if he average a goal every 3/4 games he'll do for me.

10-15 goals this season not beyond him, FEED THE CROAT & HE WILL SCORE ;)

  5. Weiss?

and you say SWP has no end product and him playing in that pub league up the road does not count!

I think Weiss's end product can/will/has improved, young player progressing, improving etc.

SWP, expensive, best days behind him, it's a financial looking outview more than anything. Granted SWP has pace and experience, but i wouldn't give Usain Bolt 80k/week either. Much prefer to see younger, cheaper, more enthusiastic player, that's all.

I.E, Would have loved Jeffren deal to come off, but hey hum!!

  6. SWP, really??????????? :nea:

knee & jerk are springing to mind, is it only me that thinks he's highly overrated?

Reportedly on 80k a week, 29 yrs old, gobshite billy big bollox, best days behind him, all effort no end product(even in his prime)

Okay, probably better than Eagles, but Pllleeeeaaassee!!!!! Prefer to see that Weiss lad back myself, cheaper, younger, hungrier IMO

  7. Stretchered off against Newport. According to the BEN fella on twitter "Heard a crack, given oxygen". Sounds bad, possible broken leg. Fucked.

You're shitting me? Jesus wept

I know they're Welsh but surely their English is good enough to understand the word "friendly"

Always a danger playing such lowly opposition, which begs the question why?

BOLTON...."Good to see you making your way back up from non-league obscurity Newport, would you like us to come play a game against you? raise your profile? make you some money? Oh, and while we're doing you this favour.... if you could just nobble one of our prized assets that'd be smashing too!!"

    TAFF....."Righto boyo!!"

    TOSSERS

  8. We still look a bit light in midfield.

We've only got Petrov, Gardner, Pratley, Reo-Coker, Muamba, M Davies, S Davis, Holden, Lee, Eagles & Mears.

    11 might not be enough.

    Mears a defender (!!)

    S Davis, sicknote (cheerio)

    Holden & Mavies, injury prone

Gardner, cover for LM/LB at best

So i'm thinking we're about there or thereabouts, though i see your point, does this point to a change in formation? given that we're light up front?

personally, with these midfielders, i'd like to see a 4-2-3-1, which would help considerably away from home

  9. Hello to fellowwhites (though the new kit would suggest otherwise  )

Exiled Wanderer for more years than i'd like to recall, though didn't/hasn't stopped me being a STH nor wracking up 76 league ground visits, obviously helped by living in various parts of our green and pleasant lands....

Anyhow, before i start to waffle, that's my brief summary.
