  1. Sounds sensible. I wonder what my employer would think of that 😂
  2. I missed this and I think its pretty poor form to tell people that their issues, when you don't have a full grasp of the facts "Its normal, crack on" Of course everyone gets distracted from time to time or obsessed. That's not what ADHD is....Re-reading a paragraph a couple of times might be "normal" but being unable to process it after trying for hours on end, with your brain going off on tangents, daydreaming about unrelated things mentioned in the text, or thinking about other tasks instead of the reading material and not being able to stop it, no matter how much effort you put in, is not normal. Nor is obsessing about something ridiculous to the point of it practically stopping you doing what you need to do in your day to day life is either. I don't receive money for it either, I doubt many do, mine is classed as severe and the diagnosis wasn't just an interview about my symptoms either. I take medication and it makes me perform at close to a level a person who hasn't got it can. Not quite the level a non ADHD person does but it helps. On my meds I can feel my mind wander but I'm now able to stop it an pull it back to where it was and finish the task I was doing. Edit to add: I've actually lost jobs and missed out on being promoted for my poor concentration and haven't been able to stay in a job for longer than 2 years so I've never been financially stable..
  3. I posted about this in the politics thread in response to a 'politician' suggested some children diagnosed with ADHD were just "nuisances" and that the root cause of the illness was "bad parenting" Iva also been being treated for anxiety for the past 20 years. I'm not going to lie, it was really hard for me to type this, put it out in the public domain and it's been hard to tell certain members of my family due to how people think it's a made up disease, when I know how much I've suffered with it. I got diagnosed with it about 6 weeks ago, I'm 40. It's a ridiculously complex illness with a lot of symptoms. I have the issues with concentration and it's not about effort I can force myself to read the same page of something 40 times and not have actually read it because my brain is having a chat with itself about something else, just one example. Another one is I can get hyper focused on one thing to worry about and it can go on for weeks. Just a couple of examples. The meds have been great but not without their issues and I can to a lot of stuff I couldn't on the past. I was given the QB test and scored in the 98th percentile of people suffering with ADHD meaning my performance in that specific area (inattention, impulsivity, or activity) was higher than 98% of people in the age and gender-matched control group. Which is quite a relief because I have actually been fired from jobs from not concentrating and making stupid mistakes or getting overwhelmed and my brain shutting down, regardless of how hard I had been trying. I've been titrating on Elvanse and its been hard. Oddly, I actually was able to sleep on it during its peak effects, which is funny as its basically speed! But its helping my concentration which has been a godsend. Oh and I don't claim PIP nor do I have any intention of doing even though with comorbid anxiety I could. I work full time and have a degree.

  5. Maybe you have it but it's not severe and/or you've found coping mechanisms and a job that it doesn't impact too much..
  6. Absolutely, I definitely wouldn't have job hopped to much or made stupid impulsive decisions like walking out of a job or buying a sports car that'd I'd just walked past. I was the clumsy kid who sat staring into space and daydreaming instead of listening to the teach. I also couldn't pay attention to conversations for longer than a minute before daydreaming. Just always constantly been in my own head. I'm in titration at the minute and it's been tough. I hope you're doing well now.

  8. OK.
  9. "political correctness/wokery allied to a burning desire to virtue signal" are what damaged the country not the 2008 banking crash? Or the fact that rises in rent and housing prices have far outstripped wages?
  10. They care about the elderly so much they are trying to shut a care home near me. Because everyone knows that uprooting the elderly, especially if they have dementia is a good idea.
  11. Not really, the elderly who need it should still get it and more. Millionaires though? Not so much.
  12. I'm not really sure what point you are trying to make.
  13. Nuclear power plants should have been built years ago, like they did in France but they are costly and take a long time to payback the outlay. Which doesnt suit our short election cycles and short termism that is rife in this country.
  14. It's brutal that in some open plan offices, trying to look busy. No matter how much work I get given I usually finish it all pretty quickly. At least when you do that at home you can do what you want
  15. I know exactly what you mean! I am the same or I end up just talking to people. I'm hybrid so it gets me out of the house and I get the best of both worlds.
  16. Some will take the piss but they will get found out. It makes it a lot easier for all road users. My brothers a builder and Ives that people work from home as theres less traffic. So it's probably better for the roads as they need repairing less etc. I work a lot better from home as I get distracted easily in the office. But it's not for everyone.. Students probably can't afford a pint anymore 😂
  17. My honest opinion is that it shouldn't be needed in a country like the UK. People should be able to turn the heating on when they like. Dearest energy in Europe, partly as we kind of subsidise EDF energy.
  18. Yeah, that's a poor call tbh
  19. Some of then are good. I'll admit, especially the first two but it's offset by the fact they voted against they voted against the bill to improve workers rights and have threatened to sack council workers. On a more minor note but important for me is their hatred of working from home. Backwards.
  20. Which policies do you feel line up with the working classes?
  21. I thought it was always means tested. Isn't £35k per annum enough to be able to afford heating? As I said, I wouldn't be against increasing the threshold tbh but I don't think every pensioner in the UK needs it.
  22. I imagine you do mate. I'm not disputing that but I think there needs to be a cut off. Isn't it 35k? Assuming that's per person I don't think it's too bad. Although, I wouldn't be averse to raising it considerably given the financial climate. But not everyone needs not from a financial sense and it can be better spent elsewhere.
  23. Means tested winter fuel payments? I didn't see the issue with it.
  24. Importing the American Evangelical crap or as I like to call them.. The American Taliban.
  25. He might actually be our saviour if he splits the right wing vote, he could save the country! Who'd have thought it?
