Jeez. He did a great job, they appointed him permanently 7 months ago & has done more than anyone could have asked.

Well, he leaves with his head high & a strengthened reputation.

Current owner didn't appoint him. Yank; whose Vegas ice-hockey team has just won the Stanley Cup.

    Jesse Marsch next in?

Yes. Peter Swan, David 'Bronco' Layne and Tony Kay. All played for Sheffield Wednesday. They bet on losing their game against Ipswich Town on 1 December 1962. Ipswich won 2-0. Orchestrated by a Liverpool-based betting ring which included ex Everton Jimmy Gould. Swan got a life ban from the game along with four months in Lincoln Prison. He blew a very good chance of being a member of the 1966 England World Cup squad. Silly boy. He had earned about 20 England caps prior to his ban.

The other two got imprisonment and life bans also. I believe all three bans were rescinded seven or eight years later. Careers buggered by then though.

Swan had a brief stint at Bury when in his 30s. Would likely have been England centre half instead of Jack Charlton in the '66 World Cup but for his ban.
