It's for my son and he has written the following as his requirements:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
    Geforce 7900 GS 512mb PCI-E
AS Rock Conroe 9450 - DVI (socket TTS)
Tagan 430 watt ATX 2.01 easycon sli compliant modular silent PSU
    1 GB DDR2 800 mhz PC2-6400
    Seagate Barracuda 80GB Harddrive

Firstly, WTF are those things he's asking for?

Secondly what's the best way / price of getting them?

Thank you for any assistance.

Ok - not the same spec, but my mate (s/ware developer) got a PC from Aldi last year, and said he was blown away by the spec for the money.

http://www.aldi.co.uk/ - starts on thursday. No monitor, but they have one for ??99.

And they'll still charge you for a carrier bag to take it home in.

PS Aldi's price is ??399.99, not ??99.

yep - 99.99 is for the 17" monitor. Sorry - could have been a lot clearer.

Still, ?399.99 is not a bad price for that spec.

OK, after a bit of research I know what they are now.

Best price I've found for the components alone is ??430. He already has a heatsink and case suitable for the job, apparently.

Anybody know of a cheaper deal?

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 CHIP over a ton http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/...productId=25352

Geforce 7900 GS 512mb PCI-E Video card 136 at aria http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/...productId=25290

AS Rock Conroe 9450 - DVI (socket TTS) motherboard 60 quid

Tagan 430 watt ATX 2.01 easycon sli compliant modular silent PSU

1 GB DDR2 800 mhz PC2-6400 ram approx 100

That is a pretty high spec PC he is trying to take you for. Fair game to him for trying though :good:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 ??111.61

Geforce 7900 GS 512mb PCI-E ??117.49

AS Rock Conroe 9450 - DVI (socket TTS) ??46.17

Tagan 430 watt ATX 2.01 easycon sli compliant modular silent PSU ??52.75

1 GB DDR2 800 mhz PC2-6400 ??74.60

Seagate Barracuda 80GB Harddrive - Would change this to a Western Digital WD800JD, slightly faster and much more reliable i have found ??28.72

He's paying for it himself.

I have the components priced at ??431 at overclockers.co.uk

I went in PC world yesterday and there's no decent laptops for less than 600 notes. Does anyone know anywhere cheaper?
