Jermaine Jenas scored the first goal under the leadership of new England manager Fabio Capello last night.

Who has achieved this feat for two different (post WW II) England managers?

shearer, for taylor and hoddle?

Barmby?

I think Eder just beat me to it, it is Barmby, for Hoddle and Eriksson.

Well it was an educated guess knowing he scored the first goal for Eriksson

Barmby?

We have a winner.

Barmy for Glenn Hoddle in September 1996 Moldova 0-3 England and again for Sven in Feb 2001 for England 3-0 Spain.

Of the other partly correct guesses, Lineker scored the first for Graham Taylor in Enland 1-0 Hungary and Scholes for Keegan in England 3-1 Poland.

Just so I don't feel like I've completely wasted the last 20 minutes...

Carter for Winterbottom v Northern Ireland (7-2)

Smith for Ramsey v France (2-5)

Bowles for Mercer v Wales (2-0)

Channon for Revie v Czechoslovakia (3-0)

Kennedy for Greenwood v Luxembourg (2-0)

Francis for Robson v Denmark (2-2)

Platt for Venables v Denmark (1-0)

Terry for McClaren v Greece (4-0)

So unless I'm missing something, the only post-war England manager to have lost his first game in charge is also the only post-war England manager to have won the World Cup.

Fabio looks doomed already!
