STEVE MORRIS - BOLTON CENTRAL FIRE STATION

A lad on my watch lies in hospital at Withington with 50% burns. It's quite likely he won't ever return to his job. Why? Because he was doing the job he loved. Because a family in Great Lever needed him to take a risk to try to save their lives. A risk he was willing to take but which ultimately landed him in that hospital bed. His improvement is slow although the skin grafts are taking.

As a result of the fire he will lose all eight fingers and both thumbs. I think you'll agree that's a shit deal for a lad who's intention that night was to save the lives of four strangers!

His road to recovery will be a long and painful one and I'm not sure I'm allowed to post this here but as a watch we're trying to raise as much money as possible to assist in his recouperation.

Cheers Mick it'd be a pleasure to come along and have a mooch,though i won't be bringing the missus as i know she goes weak at the knees at the sight of Firemen!Ive a couple of mates in the Fire Service and know what a damn good job they do for the community!Hope your all keeping your chins up and spirits remain high!

Many thanks to those who ventured down to Moor Lane Fire Station yesterday. We raised just over ?6k.

we had an hour or so there.

kids had pics taken in fire truck, and so did their dad!!!

also got pics of Suranne and Dave Spikey.

 

got a can of pop from the pie/burger stall - asked why MickyD wasn't on it, as I'd guessed he would be there..... the reply from his colleague was that he was hosting the "Guess the Dargan" competition and the winning guess was "2 goats and a bag of sugar!"

 

I stuck about ?16 in a bucket.

The arrests have been 'imminent' for a few weeks now. I think the police have been 'watching' and waiting for the arsonists to make a mistake. Shame we can't choose the jury from Wanderersways . . . Could I take a black cap with me, just to intimidate the gary nevilles?
