December 24, 201411 yr A few on here will know Big Phil, a real character of the BCL who played for Heaton for many years and later umpired. I only found out when dropping a card off today but he had a heart attack on 30th November but am glad to say he is on the mend and is back at home. Get well soon big man.

July 8, 20188 yr Author Sad news, Big Phil died peacefully in his sleep last night. My dad’s best mate, a big bloke and a big character, will be much missed. Along with my dad he took me to my first Wanderers game and tried to teach me off spin. Always had a joke ready, when umpiring he used to tell incoming batsmen that “they are 49 for 8”. When asked who he would reply “beef burgers at Asda”.
July 10, 20188 yr Legend. Used to shout 66 all out , you'd say who , he came back with Hattie Jacques Tits !!!! 43-6 .... who phil ? Tomatoes at asda !!! R.I.P. big lad
