We do like walking, and whilst on holiday we went into the Black mountains looking for a Canadian WW2 bomber that came down there, couldn't find it,and phone was no use.

I'm not overly techno savvy, so can only assume that what she is after would be better.

Dunno if we'll go back though, I was knackered just getting up there.

I've got one, had it about 8 years, I've only used it to plot where I've been walking not to navigate. I've then uploaded on to google earth. It was groundbreaking technology until smartphones came. Mines a Garmin. Still need a compess and map mind.

I use viewranger on my smartphone. Very good app and you can just download the maps you need
