Knowing our luck, it'd probably be Cahill who did it

Whoa whoa whoa Wes Fucking Brown indeed. The tw@t's been fit for about five minutes and walks into the England squad having barely played back end of last season (not sure about this season to be fair), while Cahill is first reserve. I don't get it, must be something to do with the club Brown plays for... no, wait, I do get it now PS When fully fit Brown probably is a bit better than Cahill at the minute (puts tin hat on) but when he hasn't been fit for ages I find him getting an England call up staggering

Fair dos Traf, but I was just thinking of it because he played there for Pompey and could interchange with Gardner during the game, if the situation arose. I think it's vital that when he's fit we play Gardner in a more advanced role because of his pace, and obviously we need Taylor too because of his set-pieces, and this was the way of fitting them both into the formation I'd like to see. Also, if we were playing diagonal balls into the box, I'd prefer Taylor to be arrowing them in than, say, Jloyd. I wouldn't play that against any of the top six, just the must-win home games against the likes of Wigan, Burnley, Wolves etc

To take Eddie's point a step further, I'd like to see him play 4-4-2 at home, with Gardner and Lee wide to give us a bit of pace, and I'd have Taylor and Steinsson at full back. This might seem a bit odd, but I reckon, with two fairly big strikers, if Lee and Gardner can run at their man and push them back, then even if they can't get a cross in they can knock the ball back to Steinsson or Taylor, both of whom are good crossers, and they can whip it in from edge of the box/20-25 yards out. Also, your full backs have to be able to attack in the Prem imo, and I reckon those two could be a good bet. Anyway, ramble over

While I agree that we need a striker who, in tyls' words 'can kick it straight', I also agree that creative midfielder would have added another dimension, as most of our chances seem to have come (I'm judging off the Sunderland game and highlights of Hull and Liverpool) from set-pieces or knock downs, and that will only work some of the time. Hopefully Mark Davies can become our creative spark.
