I'd be curious if he has got better or if it was just the additional time and space you get in League 1, that turned no end product into end product. Lets not forget we spent along time last season wasting effort by getting it up to him, especially early on, only for him to cut inside and hit the first man, when better options for that initial pass weren't used. We got away with that in League 1, we won't in the Championship.

Yeah no shade on Burstow he did a decent job for us and im thankful of the goals he got, but there are loads of players as good for next to nowt or better out there for not much more.

I don't see it personally, a good league 1 striker, yes, but that isn't enough for the Championship and spending hundreds of thousands for a bit part player, would be silly at this stage. Plus it wouldn't be good for his career at this stage and his age.

People haven't come to terms with the fact the 25 year old version that left Preston would have cost us £5 million at the minimum, you regularly have centre backs in this league now going for that even up to £15 million, this ain't league 1, you ain't finding top proven talent for cheap.

At the top end football is a very competitive game, and the fact that someone can spend years in the championship, and get signed by Liverpool and then Rangers, shows there's something there, you don't stay at that level or get signed by clubs like that for no reason. While things might not have worked out for a few years we have to take the risk, that it won't, this is how we compete. This is how we prioritise what budget we do have on the area's in which need the biggest investment. I think it'd be fair to question unknowns and signings from lower leagues, but signings like this can come all day for me. Not sure people have really understood how many signings etc we might make this year, we could be looking at 15-20 players by the end of the season. Even with the worlds best recruitment, there's going to be hits and there's going to be misses, hell Richard T might turn out to be a legend for us yet.

Ok we're in for Michał Karbownik at left back, already played in England, speaks English and he's played at a good level, and James Bree at right back from Southampton. Both on a free. I love ITK 😀

Adam Webster, Harry Souttar, Djed Spence, Joe Rodon Theyre all defenders. They’re all in that range and didn't come from teams that were in the PL the season before. This is the level now at the top, now many of those went into the PL but they were leading Championship defenders before they did. There is now a gulf between us and the top Championship teams and we won't ever get near it unless we either take risks or spend sums we both know we don’t have and shouldn’t spend if we did. I trust FH to help us bridge that gap with quality recruitment.

The price to buy a leading Championship centre back starts at £10-15 million, even an average one will set you back £5 million, if we don’t take risks we won't stay up. The difference between Simons, Burstow and Ben is, Simons and Burstow were bit part Championship players. Ben was so good at Preston, he was signed by Liverpool, and then signed again by Rangers to play in the Champions league. It didn't work out the difference is Ben HAS been someone, Simons and Burstow are still young and are yet to be anyone.

I'd expect FH and SS know if there are physical considerations and risks regarding Ben, they signed him anyway. So they either think its not a consideration due to tactics or they think they can fix them if they exist. If they aren’t an issue we've just got a leading Championship centre back for free. I'd also expect that these aren’t the marquee signings which will need to come if we are to progress with resources probably being saved for wingers and full backs, where we are currently weakest.

Seems a top player if we can keep him fit, get a feeling the 2 that signed would have been joining anyway regardless of the league we were in. Given everyone is off right now these were probably signed in all but name months ago. Suspect the big signings will be coming closer to the start/early preseason.

Warren looked good in pre season, suspect there's a decent league 1 player in there, needs a decent loan.

He didn’t look out of place in the pre season games to be fair not in the same way Daeshon and David did where it was clear they were still a long way from the first team. Suspect his level is probably somewhere in League 1. Championship is a big step up from League 1, might be a bridge too far.

I said disaster because they’d be a lot of money, and even if they were able to hack it in the Championship, they probably wouldn't be stars they were for us in League 1. If we're going to cut it in the Championship we need everyone to be at star league 1/ early Championship level, with a few above that. This is why having such a thin squad right now goes in our favour.

Think the play off games have glossed over the teams performance for the season for a lot of people. We just scraped into the playoffs ultimately in a very poor league 1. There needs to be MASSIVE changes in the playing staff and just resigning people from last year wont be good enough. I think resigning Kenny and ACD could turn out to be a disaster, i remember how good Filipe Morais looked in League 1.

Take it with a big grain of salt, so much of it is to do with tactics and the players you play around, this is just to give you a general feeling.

The graphic only gives you a general direction, many of those stats are heavily influenced by the fact Kilmarnock were in group b, by the 33rd game. Around our better players those stats would increase significantly, suspect he'll be a big player for us this season.
