If you win an auction for something on there, do you have to buy it? It's not exactly clear in the rules

Featured Replies

if you bid it's technically a legal contract, but in reality you'll just get bad feedback if you don't bother

on a finer level, people who bid and then don't purchase after winning an auction are W****r's, C**T's and D***heads

Well the seller lied in his description and I then got the same thing cheaper, so really he's the w****r

Rob,

The whole point of an auction is this: You want it, you bid for it. You bid for it and you win, you must pay.

If you don't pay then the seller has missed out on selling it to someone who actually wanted it.

Other than that, maaaaaaaaaarsh is right: non-paying bidders are w??nkers, c??nts and d??ckheads! :D

how did he lie?

as a tip, don't bid for the same item off two people at the same time, because you end up with situations like this where someone gets owned

it costs money to list an item, all the fee's are paid by the seller, so don't screw them around, it's little better than petty theft

If the seller has mislead you then you're under no obligation to complete the purchase

If you're a just a non payer.... then you want administering with a hammer

Right - I was after some tickets for U2 On Tues - I already have 2 standing ones, but needed an extra 2 for a mate. I won 2 that were advertised as standing, but at the time of the auction I asked him to confirm that they were definitely standing and to send me a picture of them (as he said he would in the description). I won them on Thursday. This morning he replied, saying that they were not actually standing tickets, confirmed by the picture. Obviously I wasn't pleased because they weren't what he had advertised, so I went back on and won some that were definitely standing tickets. They were also ??20 cheaper. Then I remembered that surely I'd have to pay for the other ones even though he'd lied. I could just pay for them still and get rid of them to other mates, but I cant really be arsed with the hassle.

that's fair enough, tell the bloke to sod off, if he wants to complain it doesnt sound like he could get very far

Still buy them, then sell em on. Make a profit.

How much did you pay for them ?
