Bea Smith Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Just want to say that this years memorial service was the best ive ever seen. It was a fantastic parade and atmosphere. My father in law laid a wreath on behalf of the veterans club and i was so proud i nearly popped. I wasnt to keen on all the referances to God etc as i dislike all religion for the reason that i think its caused more harm than good over the years. Off to the roundhouse after for several bevvies- its always a good afternoon there, can everyone make the effort next year??? It means so much to the older generations, and feels good to be involved in. missus c poppy nutter
andyacky Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 i went yesterday and i agree it was brilliant parade.i felt really proud aswell my daughter was marching she is in the army cadets and its nice to see the younger genaration remembering those who died in the wars
Juan.Kerr Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I've been going to the service at the Town Hall for years and years now, and wouldn't miss it for anything. Every year there are less and less "old soldiers", and every year I see them wearing their medals and I think "If I had erned those medals, I'd never take them off". They would be on my pj's and everything, I would be so proud.
Guest The Special One Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I'm envious of the old soldiers, they have done things I will never get to do

The bonding they must of had with their mates and the adrenelin rush of one on one combat, oh how brave they were and to think we get depressed about going round the m60 in the morning.
