He was under contract with Notts County.

I have been talking to someone today who was very much involved in Pennant's career when he first started out, and he said Arsenal made an illegal approach.

I tried watching County a couple of times. From what I remember, they were some of the most boring 0-0 matches I've seen. He was well rid. I went off to watch Forest instead - not as far to walk from the bus stop.
