Uefa Cup places

Featured Replies

I'm sure this has been discussed before but does anyone know for sure how many places English teams get for next season's Uefa Cup? I can't remember whether we get 3 or 4. Given that 1 will definitely go to Charlton / Boro / West Ham as FA cup winners or losers it may well be that we need 6th place to get a European place this season ...

Unless Boro win the competition this season and get into the final which might open up another place. Maybe we should be cheering for them!

we get 3 UEFA Cup places.

1 = FA Cup

1 = League Cup

1 = 5th in Premier League

This year only 5th and 6th will qualify for the UEFA cup

So tomorrow is a huge huge match. I was hoping that our match at White Hart Lane would be a Champions League play off but with the way that Arsenal, Blackburn and Spurs are playing I reckon that it could easily be a play-off for the final Uefa cup spot. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Arsenal in 4th and Blackburn in 5th

Arsenal will get that 4th place I think, and then 'tis between ourselves, Blackburn and SPurs who will get the two UEFA places I think. And it really could be any two of the three. Looking at up coming games though, I think we will probably just miss out and then have to try and gain entry via the Intertoto Cup....................which could be interesting

aye, Spurs are going great guns, losing 3-1 at weekend!

can't see beyond Arse getting 4th - they've found form again.

May not have been obvious but when I said "with the way that Arsenal, Blackburn and Spurs are playing" I meant that Arsenal and Blackburn playing well and Spurs not playing well - hence why I said that us and Spurs will be battling for the final spot.

The thing is, IF Arsenal win the Champions League then only top three plus Arsenal (if they finish outside the top four) would go into the Champtions League for next year, therefore only 4th and 5th place would qualify for UEFA cup.

therefore only 4th and 5th place would qualify for UEFA cup.

That depends on where Arsenal finish then, if they're 5th then the 6th place team will get a UEFA cup place. So it'll still be the top 6 getting the european places.

Don't think we will get there !

whose knows Bolton may just pull something out of the bag !! [-o<

with united winning the league cup, will it not free an extra place, and, make 7th in the league the cut off point for the uefa?

You love beer too much. That is what the above implies. The league cup winners will qualify for the champions league, the place for the league cup therefore drops to 6th in the Premiership

ok. thank you. missed the point first time around.
