My Car

Week before Xmas a chap reversed into my car resulting in a smashed reg plate and a noticable dent above it. He gave me his address name and number and said he would pay for the damage, save going through the insurance.

Anyway, I lost the piece of paper then, but have recently found it. Could I still contact him and sort this out? It is over 4 months ago 8-[

Just ring him and explain you lost his details and have just found them! If he as admitted doing the damage I can't see there being a problem. Unless he as moved or give you false details!

Anyone who doesn't go through the insurance as some bloke claimed they will pay for the damage is a sucker.

Always get their reg number and photograph if possible. Same thing happened to me, fortunately traced him through the reg.

Did you get the REG of his car and took any pictures of the damage?

I suspect there's not a lot you can do unless you somehow trace him! I would suspect any fucker who said that it's not worth going through any insurance!

He could turn out to be sincere! Try to contact him tomorrow! Take it from there!

You are f??cked.

As far as I understand, they will only pay up if you can prove that the person who hit you had no insurance I believe. If you don't know their real identity then you can't do this.

Took me about 6 months from finding the bloke and getting a confession out of him via Plod until Direct Line refunded my excess and removed the claim.

Dunno bout that , we claimed , never found out the true identity of the driver or his address.....

The car was traced back to someone chap in Scotland whom had sold it on ......the log book details hadnt been changed..

We got paid out .......fair bit less solicitors fees......but it did take months

When was the last time someone crashed into someone and they WERE insured?

I crashed at a cross roads into somebody in August 2004. The Asian gentleman I crashed into had gambled on amber and hadn't quite made it as I turned right, straight into the side of his car.

Anyway, it transpired that it went down as my fault as I was turning right and cutting across his lane, and nobody could prove that he had sped up and shot through on amber. It turned out that he was uninsured anyway, so there was no claim as such to be made, I just had to claim on my insurance to fix my car.............this grieved me immensely, but I thought never mind. A couple of months later I received a letter from a solicitor acting on his behalf, saying that his client wished to sue me for damage to the soft tissue in his back and whiplash etc. Obviously this is now all in the hands of my insurance..................who will probably pay out

How the f*ck can this uninsured idiot, try to claim for damages against my insurance.................when he was driving illegally in the first place [-(

thats fuckin disgraceful...

whiplash claims are a fookin complete joke!

too many dishonest people in this world, tryin to make a quick buck...

i aint gonna do owt like that!!!, i reversed into a van on the Horse shoe Car park just before Christmas, went inside & explained misen to this bloke who was having a dinner time tipple & was the van driver.

I also said i didn't want to go through the insurance & would pay for the damage misen. gave him my details & he said he would pass them on to his boss @ work. 3 days later got a call from this tvvat saying the repair would cost ??1,895.53p. Now there was hardly any damage & i thought the most it would come to was a couple of hundred quid not a couple of ferkin thousand so Isaac is changing his outlook on things like this & from now on I'm gonna become dishonest & a right c??nt.

toodle pip :D :D :D

I parked at a car parl last week and as I opened the door, the wind took it and slammed it into the door of a brand new vectra causing a nasty dint and scratching all the paint off.

What did I do??

I took missus c's advise and went and parked elsewhere and said f??ck all.

Maybe thats because a few years ago somebody drove into my parked car and caused a massive dint costing me a few hundred to repair.
