Three programmes bought this week

1.58/59 Everton v Bolton. This is a beauty because its my first Bolton away from this season and the league table has Bolton top on Boxing Day.

The Evertonia column exclaims "Bolton are bonny cup fighters and come to Goodison Park as one of the most formidable teams in the First Division."Nice programme but we got beat and ended the season in 4th,11 points behind Wolves.

2.60/61 Shrewsbury v Aldershot FA Cup 3rd rd 2nd replay at Villa Park.

I'm not a Shrewsbury or Aldershot collector but i couldnt resist this one because its a single sheeter and these get me excited. In fact this now beats my 63/64 Bury v Huddersfield reserves as my oldest single sheeter.

Its in good nick although the previous owner has noted that Aldershot won 2-0 and the gate was 8,622 in black ink.

3.93/94 Swindon v Man Utd.My supplier was having a 25p summer sale and i couldnt resist this one as a long term investment. Its an attractive programme with a picture of Fraser Digby on the front and a reprint of the 69 Swindon v Arsenal League Cup Final programme inside. This of course was Swindons only Premier League season and is bound to increase in value as future generations of Wiltshire collectors put it on their wishlist.I expect to make at least a fiver on this one when i sell it in the 2030s.

About a quid, although funnily enough the Feb 1963 Villa v Liverpool programme is worth ??100,000- This is due to the very small numbers printed in the winter of '63, because the heavy frost froze the printing machines.

Unlucky :D

I think you'll find that 1963 Villa prorammes were printed by Prog-u-Like in Bournemouth. Heavy frost on the south coast is very rare. The reason for the unusually high programme value is that by accident it was printed on fifty pound note paper, which had been left on the back seat of a car and gone all pale. :D

Have you ever kissed a girl?

I buy programmes occasionally.

I read them at half time and then on the way home. They sometimes last about a week as bog reading. Then I recylcle them to help make more programmes.

Am I weird? :-k

There is a December 62 Liverpool v Villa programme on sale for ??5 at Brentside Programmes.

At the fair at Altrincham in May there was a 78/79 Man Utd v Norwich from a postponed game on sale for ??315,so some of them are worth going to the ground for even though the game has been called off.

And Brixton....the ??40 basic fee includes kissing at Arabesque up St Georges Rd, so im never without a snog for long.

Nice one George, next time i`m in town i`ll pop in and mention your name.

After taking the pi*s, I hardly have the heart to tell him Steve Earle bid me a four figure sum two years ago for 17 consecutive Toyota Cup programmes I had starting with the Nottingham Forest one. Obviously, he became the proud new owner.
