Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton has called up Norwich City defender Gary Doherty for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Germany in Stuttgart on Saturday week.

 

In addition to Harte???s absence, there is no place for Andy Reid, who sat out Charlton Athletic???s defeat at West Ham, while Bolton Wanderers right back Joey O???Brien also misses out having been ruled out of his side???s victory over Spurs.

 

Not good for him or the team.

he's injured. if he played for Ireland, he would be further behind in his fitness for us. I'd say its good for bolton he aint playing for Ireland

Without a doubt, it's great news for the club, at least our backroom staff can keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't overstretch himself.
