I remember a time not too long ago when Sam and Ferguson were at loggerheads,and Sam seemed to just love getting stuck into 'em and upsetting the red scum. It seems to me that the last 3 seasons or so,there seems to be a bit of a luurrrrvvv in between the 2 managers - Do we ever put in the same gutless displays against Arsenal?

its been agreed, i think, that our way of playing - our slowish players/stop-go style - requires us to stay in the game as long as possible

 

chasing the game to pull back a deficit, leaves us wide open

 

united are clinical in front of goal, arsenal aren't

 

thats a bigger reason than any perceived sam/fergie love-in

what these two teams do against other teams is irrelevant to this discussion

 

united have pace to burn, which they use to create chance after chance - ffs yesterday we had 5 corners to their 1 - but they're much more direct, and frankly, streets ahead of us, in every facet you wish to consider

 

pace, thought, movement, skill

 

arsenal are much more predictable/rigid, and our organsiation - and some physical advantage - can see us through

 

anyway, if it makes you feel a little less paranoid, think back to our latest meeting v arsenal

Sam has made some unusual selection decisions against ManU. I remember him starting with Vaz Te at Old Trafford instead of more experienced forwards. He was inexperienced and completely out of his depth at that time.

It seems since Sam became a celebrity manager and chums with Sir Alex he is incable of motivating his team to perform against United in the same way he can against managers he publicly slates such as Benitex & Wenger. All you hear in the build up to the Bolton United games now is back slapping between the two about how great they both are.
