Leeds 1-1 Ipswich

Ipswich's late equaliser has virtually relegated Leeds, who trail Hull by three points and have a vastly inferior goal difference with one game to play.

It is still mathematically possible for Leeds to stay up, but they would need to win their last game by at least eight goals, and for Hull to lose.

 

Richard Cresswell opened the scoring for Leeds but Alan Lee glanced in a header on 88 minutes to cancel it out.

 

A pitch invasion and 30-minute delay followed before the match could finish.

 

Referee Michael Jones had led the players from the field with several minutes of time added on still to play.

 

And when the players came back onto the field to see out the game, referee Jones blew for full-time within a minute and promptly sprinted for the tunnel.

Good result, but ya can't just compare downwards all the time, then you'll have no ambition. Even in the current position it's not unjust of the supporters to expect the club to show further ambition and to expect loyalty from those involved.

No need to be extreme, the club can progress, just as any club can. The UEFA cup isn't an unrealistic goal within the next few years, if the club keeps progressing. League and cup could be bonuses, and just general improvement of the club. Bolton is a top half club now, the position should be strengthened maybe to allow challenging for top 4 some time in the future.

Teams cannot just keep progressing!

 

After a while you will hit a plateau and not progress any further for a while!

 

We will not challenge the top four clubs for several years at least !

Teams can always get better, and right now our first team is not perfect, ok? There's money available, and some good business and a good manager and the club WILL progress, there is no reason it wouldn't. Even outside of buying players the club can progress by winning back some of the supporters and filling the stadium. This is not a plateau.

Actually we could easily still be challenging for a champions league spot but for our inexplicable non-performances (wigan at home etc ). So my conclusion is with just a little more consistancy, possibly less injuries (or a slightly stronger squad) or a bit more tactical nouse to shake things up when plan A isn't working we could still atchieve more.
