Lets hope Ben Haim will sign the contract we have offered. And there was another name on SSN that we have offered a contract to, is it the young right back? And does anybody know whether he is any good?

 

 

He was playing midfield and BWFC said they were gonna release him. He then ended up playing right back in the reserves and impressed them. He is now staying on.

The young player offered a contract - but yet to accept is the Polish boy - Blazej Augustyn, whilst the young lad released and then given a contract a month later is James Sinclair.

 

The following is an interesting read about the youngsters if you have not seen it before -

 

Blazej Augustyn

 

It?s hard not be impressed with this nineteen year old from Poland. The official site claims him to be a full back, but he usually plays as a central defender where his astute reading of the game can best be employed. He?s tall, mobile, has a decent turn of pace and unusually for a defender two good feet. If there is one criticism, it?s that he is sometimes too casual, but that maybe a symptom of playing at reserve team level, when it?s clear that he is capable of much more. Next season he needs to get a chance with the first team.

 

James Sinclair

 

Quite possibly the story of the season. Sinclair hadn?t fulfilled his early promise as a striker and his career at Bolton was effectively over. The decision to try him at right back was inspired as he looks a natural. The former Sunderland trainee may be a little lacking in height but he compensates with pace and strength and is determined and persistent in the tackle. Think of a particularly stubborn Staffordshire bull terrier and you get the idea. Going forward his attacking instincts can be gainfully employed on the overlap. He?s been rewarded with a year?s professional contract in order to learn his new trade. Something tells me that he?ll succeed.

 

Matt Cassidy

 

Cassidy emerged at the start of the season as a more than useful holding midfielder and has been rewarded with a call up for the Irish under-18 squad. He is exactly what?s needed in that position, having the ability to break up play and then look for the intelligent pass to enable a counter attack. Again, he may be on the small side, but he?s not physically mature yet, so mother nature might take care of that.

 

Rob Sissons

 

Up until recently, things haven?t looked good for midfielder Sissons. He didn?t often feature in reserve games and looked disheartened when he did. Things have changed over the past few weeks and he?s now displaying the promise shown last season. His relationship with Cassidy is key, as he can receive the ball in a central area and then either drive through the middle or lay the ball out wide.

 

Jaroslaw Fojut

 

I've some doubts about his positioning and timing, but he?s got the size and physique to cope at Premiership level. Didn?t put a foot wrong when representing the first team against Walsall and Charlton in the Carling Cup. Another who can gain little from continuing to play at reserve level.

Mark Ellis

 

Another centre back, he was recruited from Exeter City for ?80,000 after impressing in a practice game against Kevin Davies. Maybe he likes playing against the big names, as he gave Jason Roberts absolutely nothing in a recent reserve game against Blackburn, in the face of some pretty nasty intimidation.

 

Chris Basham

 

A holding midfielder, with a liking for getting forward, who has already been out on loan to non-league Stafford. His first touch could perhaps be better, but he?s got an eye for the clever pass and cut the opposition defence to ribbons in the last game of the season, with a series of balls over the top.

 

Kevin Wolze

 

If the name doesn?t give his origins away then his appearance will. He wouldn?t look out of place wearing a monocle and flying a World War One fighter plane. It?s a bit early to be including this German international as he?s only just turned seventeen and is a first year academy scholar, but there is something about the lad that screams quality. He?s tricky and fast. Not the straight line 100 metre type of pace, but the kind that buys you time in a busy midfield and he has a fierce left foot shot that belies his stature. He needs to gain strength and endurance as he often starts well but then fades out. Not one for next season, but don?t be surprised if talk of the new wunderkid on the block comes from the Reebok the year after.

 

Nathan Wolfe

 

Played in some of the pre-season friendlies and looked well out of his depth, but he?s improved as the season?s progressed. He?s a pacy left-sided midfielder whose driving runs are well worth seeing and possesses a powerful shot. Another year of progress should yield interesting results.

 

Johann Smith

 

The hot tip for this season, after making spectacular progress in the previous one. He?s been on loan since Christmas at Carlisle and scored at the weekend. Blindingly quick and as a result is usually played on the wing, when he?s best as a lone front man. Too often lacks an end product and awareness of his team mates. He shouldn?t be written off yet, but he hasn?t made the hoped for strides this term.

 

Leslie Thompson

 

Not that far behind Smith when it comes to pace and is technically a more complete player. Yet despite a good all round game, there?s something missing ? the lack of a cutting edge, for want of a better expression. Remedy that, and add a front man for him to play off, and he?d be a prolific striker.

 

Przemyslaw Kazimierczak

 

First impressions were not good. Six goals conceded in a Manchester Senior Cup game at Oldham, where he displayed all the mobility of someone with their feet encased in concrete. It seemed that commentators wouldn?t be troubled with pronouncing his unfeasible name. All of which goes to show the folly of judging someone on one appearance. The next time out, he was totally different, making a string of outstanding saves against an experienced Blackburn side. Subsequent appearances suggest that the first performance was an aberration and that he?s a very promising ?keeper ? a fact that?s been recognised with the offer of a one year contract.
