Im suprised that he has gone to Chelsea.

he will have limited (if any) first team apps surely being that age you should be

playing football day in day out at a lower level?

then if hes got it then go and get a big club

He will have chosen there because they have given him 2 years professional as well as the 2 years as a youth team player. This rules out the chance of going all the way to the age of 18 and then being dropped before turning pro.

I don't know what the other clubs offered him, but when the former champions offer you a contract which guarentees that you will become a professional with them, there won't be many different offers that a 16 year old will choose.

Good luck to him.

Agreed. I have said this before but gone have the days where players worked themselves up from lower league clubs. These days the big clubs get them when they are just out of nappies, then go and buy a bunch of foreigners so the young player don't get a look in. So players go from Chelsea or equivalent to Bradford or equivalent rather than the other way round.
