October 23, 200718 yr If you look at our history over the last 30 years 3 managers have had great sucess with bolton Greaves,Rioch and Allardyce, all 3 are similar characters outspoken and strong minded, call a spade a spade, and larger than life characters, steve bruce is the nearest thing to these 3 and for that reason is now my first choice.

Greaves and Rioch took over teams on their way up. Allardyce, helped by Gartside's shrewd financial management of a club on the verge of bankruptcy when he took over, can take all the credit himself.
