why isnt he in the 1st team ? ino he got injured but every time i seem him play hes done a good job and for 1 hes a natrual left back.....he should be playing instead of ricardo

Gardner's having a bad season. I have alot of time for the lad, but his defending has generally been shocking recently. He's still the best LB we have, so that says it all aviut JLloyd (what kind of name is that anyway?)

 

And whilst we're on full-backs, Hunt has been decent this term; our main issue is centrally - we have 3 centre-backs (forget Cid) in Meite, Lubo and O'Brien who would all be alright with a stronger partner, but any pairing made up from the 3 of them is distinctly poor.

IMO Miete and O'Brien are starting to form a good partnership, Miete is not a leader and needs somebody strong and decisive next to him, and I think that O'Brien is starting to fit that role. When Miete can concentrate on his own game I think he is a very good defender, however when partnered with the inexperienced Cid or Lubo then he has to make the decisions and think about the other player aswel as himself, which IMO he can't do.

 

Hopefully with O'Brien back on saturday they can continue their partnership and all will be well again.

I actually don't think that is that much of a problem. Miete isn't slow for a centre half, but generally forwards are faster than defenders anyway. I haven't really noticed pace being a big problem in the parnership.

Unfortunately not, but i'm guessing from his nickname he was a bit pacey.

Forwards were naturally faster than defenders up until the mid 90's but the game has changed - ask any professional coach.

 

It's not just pace that's amiss, but another lumbering centre-half, stopper like Lubo would be suicide.
