May 21, 200818 yr at the end of the day, it seems unfair that there are those out there who want kids and can't have them, then there are those who get pregnant and don't want them
May 22, 200818 yr I am against it personally but I know people who have had abortions and would never stand in their way or judge them for it at all, i would support them if that is what they wanted to do, but personally i could not do it. In my opinion, if people find out at a certain stage through pregnancy there child was to to be born but be in severe pain for the rest of there lives or not survive very long then i can agree with peoples point of view in doing it... if for example they were to be born with illness such as downs syndrome or blind for example... who is to say that they can not live a normal life, they would not no any different and in my opinion would think they live this 'normal' life.. Young teenagers having unprotected sex, there is no need for it, there is plenty of different types of contraception out there and even if they get pissed and forget... you can still get contraception afterwards -free of charge- to stop getting pregnant.. If people cannot for any reason care for a child, either be financially or whatever, what is wrong putting the child up for adoption? there are so many people grateful for that who cannot have children yet as said earlier the numbers on this are far lower than abortion. I have always been against it personally, and as said earlier after seeing that exibition in manchester, it is shocking just how developed it is at 22 or 24 weeks. There has been cases where babies have been born premature at a similar time into the pregnancy? would that then be deemed as a baby or a foetus?

Spot on that is.These young girls no what they are doing,so they have to face the music if they can be arsed to use contraception.
May 22, 200818 yr Spot on that is.These young girls no what they are doing,so they have to face the music if they can be arsed to use contraception. I think that's a bit harsh. Just think if it was your daughter.
May 22, 200818 yr Spot on that is.These young girls no what they are doing,so they have to face the music if they can be arsed to use contraception. i would be amazed if there is a single bloke on here who has not at some stage gone paddling without wellies. very easy to juddge people on the outcome rather than the action.
May 22, 200818 yr At the end of the day, I think us women are going to have a different opinion on this to the men, this is closer to home for us. As for adoption, I don't think I could give away a child after giving birth to it, especially if I held it in my arms. As it is, there are those who have abortions, and I won't judge. However, I have always wanted children and wouldn't want to get rid of one then find out I have problems conceiving in later life because of being irresponsible in earlier life.
May 22, 200818 yr i would be amazed if there is a single bloke on here who has not at some stage gone paddling without wellies. True pal,but the girl could always say no. Unless she was with me.
May 22, 200818 yr True pal,but the girl could always say no. Unless she was with me. So you are with a bird (in you youth) you end up paddling and she gets pregnant....... it aint just her fault/problem........
May 22, 200818 yr There's a book called Freakeconomics with a chapter in it basically tracing the decline in crime in the US to the legalisation of abortion in most states. It points out that a very significant number of the foetuses that would be aborted post-legalisation, subsequently grew up to become criminals pre-legalisation. Just throwing that in the pot.
May 22, 200818 yr So you are with a bird (in you youth) you end up paddling and she gets pregnant....... it aint just her fault/problem........ No, you both knew what could happen so you take it on the chin. All i am saying is abortion should only be used if the girl has been raped or the baby is to be born with a bad disability.Only then should the mother be given the choice of a abortion or not. Just throwing that in the pot. so they make abortion legal......so there are more abortions...................so less crime....................... when did crime in america decline ? a comment like that just shows how you can twist a series of unrelated facts to make apparently logical conclusions that are total shite. (not aimed at you but the book)
May 22, 200818 yr No, you both knew what could happenso you take it on the chin. Now, it's easy to throw the "but you're not a woman card" BUT, how many blokes end up having to bring up the child with no help from their other half, emotionally, physically or financially? I admire any man who does/would greatly as it is still not seen as the norm in our society (or any for that matter.) IMHO, At the end of the day it really has to be the woman's choice, it's her body.

To be honest the thought of them terminating a pregnacy when it 24 weeks old makes me sick. Babys have been born at around 24 week and lived. Its wrong if the baby is fit and healthy.

May 22, 200818 yr Argh, so you've a problem with the amount of time and not the act. Why didn't you say that? 24 weeks is the law there is nowt i can do about it. If i could change it i would.
May 22, 200818 yr Author There's a book called Freakeconomics with a chapter in it basically tracing the decline in crime in the US to the legalisation of abortion in most states. OK, its from a book, but there have been a whole host of social changes that have occured during the same period which are far more responsible for a rise in crime. I blame the Beatles, its all gone downhill since they rocked on the scene.

I think its all about when you think life begins, at birth or at conception, you here these stories in them magazines "i went to the doctor with a stomach ache and gave birth to a daughter" type scenarios. now if that woman who went to the doctors with a "stomach ache" had been raped nine months earlier but didnt know it had made her pregnant, is it ok to kill the baby because it is a result of rape ? or if its born disabled ? of course its not, so the qustion is when does it become a living being and when is it a cluster of " inconvienient" cells. I speak as someone whos wife has just had a 20 week scan, and to me i couldnt imagine "getting rid" of what was on the screen, that said i would never judge anyone that did, just my thoughts on the matter. also my cousin was born at 22 weeks and its hard to imagine that she could have been removed two week later if her mum so wished.
