IN a befitting end to a glorious football career, former Nigerian captain, Austin Okocha, yesterday, scored the winning goal as the Super

Eagles beat the World's 11 2-1 in a testimonial match for the midfield maestro.

On a rainy day in Warri, many internationally acclaimed football greats and fans defied the downpour to grace what was meant to be the

swansong for one of Africa's most brightest soccer player and how great the feeling was as they enjoyed themselves on the field, not

minding the rains, which were coming down in torrents.

Friends.....for life, both players scored

It was meant to be Okocha's last day in the sun but it became the player's last day in the rains as he soaked in the drench and played out

his heart, inspiring the other players, not to allow themselves to be troubled with nature's own gift to mankind, even though they were

finding it difficult getting their rhythm, on a rain-soaked pitch. With Kanu Nwankwo skippering the Eagles team, it was clear to see that the

enthusiasm on the Portsmouth 's talisman, who befittingly scored the opener, to the delight of the fans. At that time, Okocha was on the side

of the divide, teaming up with a selection of the World's 11, which had in their midst, renowned players like Diouf, Muntari, Babayaro, Daniel

Amokachi, Benjamin Mwaruwaru, Idah Peterside and so many other stars of yore and today, who came to pay their due respects to Okocha.

The first half ended with the Eagles leading 1-0 but on resumption of play, Daniel Amokachi, leveled scores, drawing praises from the fans,

who chorused out his nickname, to high heavens. As heaven's skies, remained open, Okocha started another round of fun, this time teaming

up with the Eagles and turning his game into rain ball. He showed that he was a true master of the game as he would raise the ball twice before passing it to his mates, drawing applause from fans, who were thrilled with his ingenuity.

And as the clock ticked down and fans were about trickling out of the stadium, Okocha, fittingly, scored the second goal for the Eagles, to cap up a memorable end to his distinguished playing career on a winning note.

Sounds like it was fixed, to me. :D

Was fat Craig involved?

Bye JJ, and thanks for the memories.

i wonder if the retirement of one of the greatest footballers to grace the premiership would have passed quite so unheralded if he'd played for spurs

in fact, no i don't

i know the answer

bastards

Shame we didn't get to stage this game at the reebok. Would have got 3 or 4 thousand on!

Augustine, or Augustus. That's his name.

You're confusing him with the great Austin Maestro.

I've just watched JJ on YouTube.

He sold Beckham and Keane so much dummy, they had to pay to get back in.
