Ethernet Crossover Cables

Are Ethernet cables and Ethernet crossover cables the same thing?

 

If not is the cable that attaches me to my modem a normal or crossover one?

    Cables are very expensive in PC World but it's great to quote a customer "you will pay XXX at PC World where I can do it for much less" win win :hi:
