If, on the other hand, they decide to get rid of Hughes, bring in their own manager, have a summer of wholesale changes, then get p1ssed off that the new man doesn't win the league after one year, and sack him for someone else, they'll remain in a state of perpetual mediocrity.

spot on. i seriously believe that hughes will be expected to keep them in the top 7 all of this year and if they languish further down in the next few months he will be gone come 1st jan. they will then bring in a very big name.

 

These lot have so much money that spending 2 billion in the next 18 months to attract the worlds best manager and top 25 players and paying out 150 million in wages per year is a mere drop in their ocean of funds.
