Anybody well up on F.A rules Sadly, heartbreakingly, it's not a joke. The FA website confirms that Sean's suspension is between 23-26 December. The latest news is that there will be a meeting with the FA on Monday, but the likelihood is that we'll be kicked out. As to how it's happened...as far as I'm aware, this sort of thing normally falls to Alan Slater, who's one of the most shrewd and experienced Club secretaries there is. I can't believe that something like this would have slipped through his fingers, so maybe the only shred of hope we have is that the FA have cocked up somewhere, maybe not sent us a letter to inform us. If the ban was from the 23rd of december till the 26th of december. That means Newton would have missed two games under this ban because of the game on the 26th against Vauxhall Motors, and under FA regulations, for a player recieving five yellow cards, he must serve a one match ban. That means he is breaking no rules by playing last night if he is not played on the 26th against Vauxhall Motors because he is effectively still serving a one match ban between those dates. having looked at the disciplinary procedures of the FA it seems this rule is the only one we can clutch to... RE-ARRANGED MATCHES A Regulatory Commission shall have discretionary power to rule that a match shall not count towards the completion of a suspension if it is satisfied that the game has been arranged by the Club with a view to enabling the player to complete his suspension and thus qualify him to play in a specific match. although this states using a game to avoid suspension in the next game, surely they must use a bit of common sense and realise that this is extenuating circumstances with the situtation and the amount of abandonments that have taken place... When bury played an inelligable player and also missed out on playing ipswich in the 3rd round in 2006/07 it was for playing a player in the replay which they knew about 2 weeks previous and was more straight forward than this situation plus it was because they had not got the required permission from the club the player was on loan from for him to play in the FA Cup....
