Best Round Of Boxing 2008

Featured Replies

Two blokes throwing haymakers doesn't make for a good round of boxing.

It doesn't?

You can not even compare the Hagler/Hearns face-off with that other fight. For one it WAS a fight and not a windmilling contest.

Hearns/Hagler bout lived up to, and delivered more, than what was expected, even in that opening round. Both fighters were boxing legends and on top of their game at that time. Tuther fight was like two drunks going at it on Nelson Sq on a Saturday night compared to that classic.

This got the award on Steve Bunce's boxing hour

Torres is a nice little puncher

You'll find footage on youtube of him VERY nearly knocking Cotto out, and Cotto is one of the top guys around

He just got sucker punched big time against Holt in that clip

During my time in London I was well in with the Micky Duff mob, so many, many free tickets for venues varying from Elephant and Castle right up to Wembley; I asked one of their lot "who the most talented boxer they'd ever had" was, and Laing was the reply - but with the caveat that he paid sod all attention to timekeeping and training and just got drugged up. What a waste - especially in view of what ultimately happened to him.
