much of kevin davies popularity comes because he works hard, and because people are pleasantly surprised by how good he has been, so he could win poty even if hes not been the best player/had the best season

Disagree, take Davies away and we'd have nowt up front, every long ball would come straight back thus creating more pressure. Whoever you put up there wouldn't track back thus our defence would be weaker too.

 

If Campo could pass a ball, stopped missing headers from 3 yards out and stopped rugby tackling people, then he'd be quality. As it is, he's too flawed although he does bring certain qualities to the team.

Garp, Barber is talking shite. Jussi isn't in the top 10 OPTA keepers based on % of shots saved. Given that we are 12th in the table and invite pressure, he should be there if he's 'that good'.

Jussi is a good keeper, had a very poor season. Made a lot of mistakes and been beaten at his near post a few times. Thats just from what I have seen!

That's all I'm saying. He was outstanding our first year back in the Prem.

Barber knows more than us, he also gets paid to get performances out of our keepers and statements like that are intented to boost their confidence. Doesn't mean for a split second he believes what he said but he'd lose his job if he said jussi was wank. Spot the flaw in your argument yet?

 

Opta stats prove what % of shots he saves. It's currently under 70%, Niemi's is over 80%. Over a season that proves certain keepers are performing better than Jussi even if his recent form has improved - last 5/6 games.

I think that after 34 games, statistically this would even itself out. Yes there is an error margin, but it ain't that big. Again, I'd imagine that even you should see the error in your argument there.

Garp, stop leaving such big holes in your arguments if you want to be taken seriously. I don't know where you can view the tables, I saw the top 10 keepers based on % shots saved on TV and yes Niemi was top and therefore arguably 'best'.

 

To a lesser extent attacking players can be judged on goals per shots ratio and yes I'd expect Henry to be top although it is a less precise science. God knows how you assess a midfielder, however I doubt that that could be used to prove who was 'best' anyway.

Shouldn't goal keepers also be judged on other attributes as well though. Such as crosses caught/dropped, kicking ability to name a few others.

Garp, I was going to say that maybe Forsell, Angle or RVN would eclipse Henry on the goals per shot ratio. He's is statistically a better finisher, or more to the point has been this season. Obviously the words finisher and goalscorer aren't interchangeable here so you need to make your mind up which you mean.

 

Anyway, were you trying to make a point, going off at a tangent on purpose or just being annoying?
